Jeb Bush has a strong performance on Tuesday night's GOP debate stage and was 'really the serious candidate on stage" with his command of domestic and international policy, former Rep. Eric Cantor said Wednesday.
"Clearly Jeb was back," the one-time House Majority Leader told CNN's "New Day" program.
"Jeb clearly was prepared. He was the one most focused on identifying where conservative policies play out and benefit working people of this country. And was prepared to take on Hillary and did so last night more so than anybody." Bush believes in commonsense conservative policy, Cantor continued, versus what's become the "new norm" under President Barack Obama and Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton, and the "antics" that candidates like Donald Trump and Ted Cruz engage in concerning immigration are leaving "Hillary Clinton high-fiving in her green room."
"I think that Jeb's clearly focused on winning this campaign, will win this campaign and I think his position on immigration is where most Republicans are and certainly most of the country is," said Cantor. "You can't sit here and assume that 11 million people are somehow going to get rounded up and deported. Jeb talked about ripping apart families and that we don't want to do that."

this from a man who lost
Serious? I watched Jeb last night and almost (almost) had pity on the guy for being so goofy - when he did the lame Washington/Washington line - fell flat - no one yucked with him. Even when he’s ‘aggressive’ it’s like a mama’s boy just getting upset.
What a delusional assessment.
Eric earning his pay from the Bush machine.
Eric “the elite” is just doing the bidding of his masters.
When Ted Cruz wins the nomination, look for the likes of Eric Cantor to endorse Hillary, or even switch to the Democrat party.
Did Jeb stand on his tippy toes last night? He need to stop acting like a fool and maybe people might take him seriously. But I doubt it.
Cantor? Cantor? Didn’t he used to be somebody?
Love that picture. But I think the minions have more brains than Jeb (and they’re funnier).
I don’t want ‘serious’... I want the killer instinct... I want the fire in the belly... I want the old cartel taken out.. completely.
Jeb - the choice of the Republicants. Endorsed by former Rep. Eric Cantor.
We’re sick of can’t. We’re after someone who can.
Not just this tool, but Dole came out for Jebster as well,
Notice how all the losers are lining up for Jeb.
All you need to know about GOPe.
They can all go away now. They had their turn-messed up things pretty well. Time now for the adults to charge and try to straighten this mess out. If it’s not too late ???
Cantor merely again demonstrates what was already known: he’s an establishment hack in it to get “his” by backing those he thinks will provide the best favors. Thankfully his former constituents finally saw the light.
Cantor’s secured his place in history with his congressional loss.
Yes.
Maybe as president of mexico, but in America? Please.
I’ve always thought Cantor was the same guy as Rick Santorum only wearing glasses sort of how Clark Kent was the same as Superman. Only difference is both Cantor and Santorum are RINO losers.
VA GOP is so corrupt that it may be able to keep all candidates off the primary ballot but Jebbie; happened in 2012 to Romney’s benefit.
