Ben Carson rants at media, and it seems to be serving him well
Washington Post ^ | 11/8/15 | David Weigel

Whatever happens to the presidential candidacy of former neurosurgeon Ben Carson, the news conference he held in South Florida this weekend will live on. It was as if the sleepy-eyed motivational speaker known to millions of people had been swapped out for a ringer - a flame-breathing, uncompromising scourge of media bias.

"There is a desperation on behalf of some to try to find a way to tarnish me," he said. "My prediction is that all of you guys trying to pile on is going to help me. When I go out to these book signings and meet these thousands of people, they say, 'Don't let the media get you down.'"

Pushed and pushed, Carson channeled the conservative id. Why, he asked, was he being subjected to the kind of scrutiny the current president never was?

"I do not remember this level of scrutiny for one President Barack Obama when he was running," Carson said. "In fact, I remember just the opposite. I remember people saying, oh, we won't really talk about that relationship. Frank Marshall Davis? We don't want to talk about that. Bernardine Dohrn, Bill Ayers? He didn't really know him. All the things that Jeremiah Wright was saying. Goes to Occidental College, doesn't do all that well, somehow ends up at Columbia University. Oh, I don't know. His records are sealed. Why are you guys not interested in whether his records are sealed?"

Actually, the first time I heard him on Hannity’s Radio Show being asked about all of this, and every interview I’ve seen on TV of him responding to it all, it’s obvious that he is CRAWFISHING.... as we say down here in Cajun country.

Carson....Don't like him. Don't trust him. My gut tells me he's a secret Dem.

Between the pyramid bit, the Jesus picture, the supplement company, the scholarship bit, the hammer and knifing bits, the hide the white guys bit...I'd say he's a little looney and on meds.

Carson’s life seems to have been a composite.

I predict that it is only going to get even more uncomfortable for Carson as the scrutiny continues. He may have to retreat to that vulgar, self-aggrandizing shrine of his.

Supporting amnesty, gun control and TPP should be enough to end his campaign. It’s no wonder if his supporters can give no substantive reason for supporting him.

Personally I don’t think he’s all there. I’ve heard some crazy stuff come out of his mouth.

Ok, for those who think Ben Carson is lying about his psychology exam, he’s just put up on facebook a New Haven article about it which reveals that he was correct and the media was lying.

Again, I am a Trump supporter (I just told Carson so) but I will not put up with media or freeper lies.

It’s an interesting phenomenon, these Republican candidates finally fighting back at the drive-bys instead of behaving like the GOP of old, apologizing for breathing.

It almost as if the drive-bys were expecting Carson to take it on the chin and fall by the wayside. If anyone saw the “Back to the Future” series, there’s a funny scene in BTTF II where Marty travels to the future to take the place of his wimpy son (who of course looks just like him). The scene shows the town bully grabbing Marty Jr (the real one), throwing him over the counter, then the past Marty jumping in taking his place, standing up, confident.

The bully is taken aback by this sudden, confident stance, and asks the (past) Marty, “So, are you in?” Marty says loudly, “NO!” To which the bully angrily replies “No?!” And Marty says, “What? Are you deaf AND dumb?! The answer’s NO!” And jumps over the counter and gets in the bully’s face.

Anyway, this kind of reminds me of the way these Republican candidates are now acting toward the drive-bys - and the drive-bys don’t know how to react.

Hey IDIOT, you forgot STATEHOOD FOR PUERTO RICO.

(with Republicans like Ben, who needs Dems?)

According to the most recent rewrite of Politco's hit piece on Carson:

Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson on Friday conceded that he never applied nor was granted admission to West Point and attempted to recast his previous claims of a full scholarship to the military academy - despite numerous public and written statements to the contrary over the last few decades.

The problem is that Carson has always said that he never applied to West Point. Carson very explicitly stated in his 1996 biography, Gifted Hands, that he only applied to a single college, Yale, because he could only afford to apply to one college.

"An ironic situation faced me in the fall of 1968, for most of the top colleges in the country had contacted me with offers and enducements. However, each college required a ten-dollar non-returnable entrance fee sent with the application. I had exactly ten dollars, so I could apply only to one."

His statement (on the previous page of the the very same biography) that he was "offered" a scholarship to West Point fell under the same category as the other "offers and enducements" that he received from multiple colleges that he had not applied to yet.

He then goes on to write how he decided to apply to Yale and not to Harvard or West Point.

It is no different from the "offers" of low interest rate loans that fill all of our spam folders. All you have to do to get the loan is apply for the loan, fill out a lengthy credit application, and get accepted.

I did freakishly well on my SAT. My grades, however, were mediocre. As soon as my SAT score was released I started receiving an endless stream of "offers" of admission and scholarships from colleges that never would have admitted me if I had applied.

I am no Carson apologist. When this story first came out I posted that he was toast. I still don't intend to vote for him because he is too liberal on immigration and many other issues. I just believe that blatant media lies against any conservatives should be fully exposed.

He's right. When I contemplate the possibility of a President who will drop a Federal Investigation Nuke bomb on the Media, He goes way to the head of my list of preferred candidates.

I WANT a President who regards the media as the most serious issue needing to be dealt with.

Everyone who worked in that business needs to go to jail for what they did in 1992 and what they did in 2008.

If you’re referring to his basement rec room, where he displays his hard-earned awards, degrees, citations, etc. — then that’s hardly “vulgar”, or “self-aggrandizing”.
Would you say the same to a pro-athlete, who has a trophy case at home?

I am no where as accomplished as Carson; but, I do have my degrees hanging on a wall in my home study. I worked very hard for them; and, on occasion, I find they provide some reassurance, when I’m facing a difficult task.

BTW, FWIW, I can’t vote for any of the candidates; but, if I could, I would likely vote for Trump — so this isn’t a partisan comment. It’s one thing to attack an unaccomplished slacker, who has had greatness thrust upon him (any guesses?); but, it’s just not right to fault someone for displaying symbols of his actual accomplishments.

The Washington pist called it a rant in the headline, proving they are biased bastards.

The media disgusts me.

I won’t support Carson to prove I hate the media but not Black people. I’m tired of the “White Guilt I’m not a bigot” Carson supporters helping Tokyo Rove slow Trump down until they think Senior Amnesty is ready for his close-up.
