The latest attack ad targeting Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) in the Louisiana gubernatorial race claims that he chose "prostitutes over patriots."
The 30-second spot contrasts Vitter with opponent Louisiana state Rep. John Bel Edwards (D) on their commitment to the armed forces.
"The choice for governor couldn't be more clear: John Bel Edwards, who answered our country's call and served as a Ranger in the 82nd Airborne Division," the ad begins, "or David Vitter, who answered a prostitute's call minutes after he skipped a vote honoring 28 soldiers who gave their lives in defense of freedom."
"David Vitter chose prostitutes over patriots," it concludes. "Now the choice is yours."

It will be interesting to see what other Freepers think!
this reeks of projection considering the Dems are busily defunding the military and seeking to make those in the military pay for their healthcare coverage!
I would suggest that both candidates are found lacking, and it’s basically between version 1 or version 2 of the DC crowd. Either way, you will get the same lobbyists and the same foundation people making things happen. And don’t think within five years that Edwards will also be answering hooker calls.
Rep. John Bel Edwards needs to be authentic and tell voters who he is. Is he the liberal, union champion, big government entitlements advocate and House Democratic Caucus chairmanâor is he the pro-life, pro-gun, Southern Democrat and West Point grad who is ashamed to stand with his party, the president or Hillary Clinton?
On one hand he panders to the teachers unions, pushes more government programs and brags in front of minorities about how he stands up to the âpowers that beâ when no one else doesâand then he runs and hides when Hillary Clinton comes to town and also runs a TV spot for his campaign that never mentions he is the only Democrat in the race.
Câmon. Edwards is the chairman of the House Democratic Caucus and toes the party line. Why doesnât he âstand upâ as a proud Democrat? Why is he trying to fool voters?
Last week, Edwards went out to the Southern University campus and acted like he was their champion. He boasted how he fought to stop the merging of SUNO (which then had the second-lowest graduation rate of any urban public college in the country at 8%) with the University of New Orleans. This is not something he should brag about. He was wrong.

I think you may have to tolerate a Dem governor.
This is in Breaking News?
Is this the Breck Hair Girl (aka John Edwards)?
It does seem that Vitter doesn't get it with this reality.
As I have often written in this forum, it’s a shame more of these GOP ‘patriots’ were not man enough to serve their country in uniform.
Can't say the same for the dhims!
Just like the democrats and suddenly, they are holier-than-thou.
I don't approve of what he did, but hypocrisy is just as bad.
What do I think?
Welcome to Free Republic.
You either are taking a long nap after posting this, or you are a troll.
Unless he is the only wholly innocent member of the Edwards clan, I would be cautious about lobbing stones at his opponent.
Vitter is guilty of bad Washington disease. These “symbolic detail votes” all mush together losing their significance. The charge will stick. Whether the people regard it as enough reason enough to suffer a Democrat is anybody’s guess. It may be enough to keep some evangelicals from pulling the lever for Vitter or keeping them home. We’ll see.
This is the choice that voters usually face. Two horribly flawed candidates that differ little in substance. The issue that the one candidate wants to make hay of...his opponent getting caught carousing with whores...is relatively minor in the grand scheme. At least they were female, of age, and of the human species.
We can rest assured that either candidate if elected will whore all of us out to the CoC as soon and as often as they can.
The logical choice is to not honor these sham elections with your participation.
I think that much of the anti-Vittur sentiment is anti-DC subliminal. Also people in North Louisiana are tired of New Orleans and Jefferson Parish snobery.
The under the carpet truths are that:
1. yes, Vitter did that, and spat on veterans.
2. Edwards, as Democrats do, stand on the veterans’ headstones, to get their point across.
I do not want the Edwards name back in politics, again.
I do not want the killer of the D.C. Madame, as governor, either.
Louisiana voters have had tough choices before we had the internet when they either had to vote for a crooked Democrat or former KKK leader David Duke on the Republican ballot.
It was for a US Senate seat.
I wonder what people would be saying in this forum if that was laid on the table before them as the choice for governor.....
I would be speechless at first and have to ponder the options but I would probably end up writing in a name of my
own.
You don't serve as a Ranger in the 82nd Airborne.
You only serve as a Ranger in a Ranger Battalion.
You serve as an airborne trooper in the 82nd Airborne no matter what tabs you have.
For example, there are plenty of SF tabbed soldiers in the 82nd Airborne. They don't serve a Green Beret there. COMPLETELY different mission.
Disgusting attack ad. And dems don't follow rules of not having the military in uniform in their political ads.
People in LA don’t know that Edwards is an Obama lackey; Edwards is leading at least 52-40 in polls with just thirteen days to go. Vitter should have thought twice about running for governor; many won’t reward him with the governorship with a year left in his Senate term.
