RUSH: Let me ask you a question, folks. Does any of this with Ben Carson amount to anything at all like Bill and Hillary and their abuse of their library foundation and their personal enrichment? Multimillionaires out selling influence on the come to foreign governments? Hillary's involvement in the Keystone pipeline deal and Bill's as well, where they are enriched from the decision? Does anything that Carson's done get anywhere near that kind of corruption on the Clinton side?
Then CARSON asks...
You ask questions about veracity of what she's done? I want you to go back and ask her some real questions about what happened at Benghazi. Will you ask her when did the time arrive in our nation when we said, "It's too dangerous to go and rescue our people," when in fact you had those two Navy SEALs on top of that compound shooting those machine guns, allowing their colleagues to escape. But I'm sure they were saying, "If we can just hold out, help is on the way. But help was not on the way." Ask her why help was not on the way. Please ask her those questions. I would appreciate it.
RUSH: It doesn't sound like he's all that mild-mannered there to me. That sounds like almost an on-fire Ben Carson.

“The nomination process to West Point is long and tedious.”
Been there, done that.
Throughout my time in the army, somebody would occasionally approach me and say ‘my brother in law could have gone to West Point but decided not to go.’ I would brush it off. This guy’s brother in law obviously didn’t know all the steps it took to get in...but why did he think he ‘could have gone’? My guess would be that a recruiter told him he could get in (just like the recruiter I dealt with).
So here’s Carson, a top cadet in the entire city of Detroit, and his ROTC chain of command is telling him he could get in to West Point practically automatically. I can see how he would believe that. And his use of the term scholarship vindicates him in my mind - it confirms that he was unfamiliar with the process, and if told he could get in, he probably believed it.
Did he embellish? I’d say that adult Carson still let himself believe the statements that flattered a teen Carson, perhaps willingly.
But to me its not even about Carson, its about the media double standard. Barry O stood on a debate stage on live tv and stated that he didn’t know Bill Ayers...when there are photos of them together in Ayers’ house and records of their serving on the same board together. And not a whisper from the media. I’m not going to get too excited about Carson’s exaggerations, and let the left form us all into circular firing squads...again. This story is like water off a duck’s back to me - and my guy is Ted Cruz.
There is very very good news here.
Politico was made out to be the liar. CNN was made out to be the liar.
Carson trounced the media.
The media lost and Carson won and this stupid story evaporated into nothing in a matter of hours.
This did not used to happen. The media is severely weak and Carson looks rock solid.
The media looks so bad here. They turn out to be obvious scumbags like Hillary.
Carson’s not my first choice but the Media must absolutely be destroyed this election cycle. The Leftist Media is destroying our country.
This BS has gone on long enough.
Agree

All sorts lurking around here, trying to infiltrate the discussoon ...
I know. You have to wonder what Politico was doing or thinking.
They must be really desperate for content but have sunk to the level of sleaze bag tabloid. No one believes them.
OTOH, electable or not, the left ALWAYS goes after the minority and female GOP candidate; it's expectable, just as the sun rises in the East.
Snake oil - your term.
You slather your mud wherever and expect to be treated with respect. Get a life.
But did Carson ever go to West Point?
No, nor did he claim to. He has said, consistently, and for years, that he only applied to one school - Yale - because that was all he could afford to apply to.
I wanted to also let people know that if someone says they’re offered a “full scholarship” to a service academy (Army, Navy, Air-Force, Marines), they’re lying. In Carson’s case, there’s no such thing as a “scholarship” to West Point. The government subsidizes every student - they’re effectively in the Army and their training is free. Even with the suspect headline from Politico, what Carson said is untrue. He knew it and that is why he admitted that he lied.
Thank you, FRiend.
But he claimed he was offered a scholarship from some General Officer. Also, what did he admitted lying about?

Countless freepers have posted images put out by the West Point marketing department using the word scholarship. While it may not technically be a scholarship like other schools award, it seems they like to use the word to help people understand it.
