RUSH: Let me ask you a question, folks. Does any of this with Ben Carson amount to anything at all like Bill and Hillary and their abuse of their library foundation and their personal enrichment? Multimillionaires out selling influence on the come to foreign governments? Hillary's involvement in the Keystone pipeline deal and Bill's as well, where they are enriched from the decision? Does anything that Carson's done get anywhere near that kind of corruption on the Clinton side?
Then CARSON asks...
You ask questions about veracity of what she's done? I want you to go back and ask her some real questions about what happened at Benghazi. Will you ask her when did the time arrive in our nation when we said, "It's too dangerous to go and rescue our people," when in fact you had those two Navy SEALs on top of that compound shooting those machine guns, allowing their colleagues to escape. But I'm sure they were saying, "If we can just hold out, help is on the way. But help was not on the way." Ask her why help was not on the way. Please ask her those questions. I would appreciate it.
RUSH: It doesn't sound like he's all that mild-mannered there to me. That sounds like almost an on-fire Ben Carson.

I’m surprised at the defense of Carson here on FR. It’s obvious Carson was peddling this story as fact for years when it was at best an exaggeration, at worst a lie. I have no idea what the appeal is of Carson but he will be a disaster as the nominee or as President.
The Drive By's must have a weird reason to defend him and keep him in the race.
Who are still supporting the lie around here?
Everyone is forgetting a major part of the Service Academy process — the whole year before a Board decides among the nominees, a potential nominee can be having correspondence with ONLY HIS CONGRESSMAN.
So if an Academy spokesman says they have no record of an application, to me it proves nothing. The Academies basically “fold” when presented with a Congressman’s nomination. AND if a Congressman decided that Carson was his nominee, that might be the FIRST TIME the Academy ever heard of him. Accordingly, if Carson had presumed from his Congressman’s assurances (or Vice Pres, or Pres)that he was “in”, he would in essence be “in”. Then if Carson decided against it and told his Congressman “no”, the Academy could possibly not even have an application.
I’m tired of lying politicians so I’m voting for Hillary.
100% agree with you. I don’t know if you went to West Point, but it is infuriating to me the complete unwillingness of Freepers to understand the nomination and admissions process to a service academy. Once that is understood it becomes patently obvious that Carson is lying. That he continues to insist that he had an offer from West Point to accept or turn down as he pleased is incorrect and simply not true based upon how that admissions process works. Watching Freepers employ and buy the Hillary Clinton defense of spinning and saying you are misunderstood and then issuing several clarifications is sad.
I’ll admit, I bit on the story, hook, line, sinker.
After hearing Rush, I’m going to wait a bit, but I think I’m going to be eating bitter crow.
I want Ben out, but never, never, like this.
It is shameful how FReepers are happily promoting media lies. It’s no wonder we conservatives have such trouble getting our message out when our ranks contain those who embrace these media tactics.
I’ve begun to wonder if the likes of StopRush trolls have found their way to FreeRepublic, registered multiple screen names, and are carrying out their version of Operation Chaos.
Did you attend a service academy? If you had, you would know there are actually quite a few students that are recruited.
Ben Carson was recruited to West Point. No lie. He says right away that he did not pursue it.
Politico and others here of FR are trying to make a big deal over the word “scholarship.” As everyone knows, if you get an appointment, you will likely be accepted, and that is a full-ride. Period.
Anyone who is recruited by a service academy has an excellent chance at getting an appointment.
“There are campaign operatives on this board posing as Freepers, aliasing themselves multiple times, and having conversations with themselves.”
You have great points here.
Yep. So don’t presume to lecture me on the process.
The world can always use another joker!
It could also be the story has no legs and the fact hat like Trump Carson comes out swinging against the media when attacked.
This story is so flimsy that it is ridiculous especially when compared to what Hillary has done lies, fraud, getting people killed that Carson’s story is a tempest in a tea pot!By pursuing this story the media are the overwhelming losers.
The storyâs original headline [on Politico], "Ben Carson admits fabricating West Point scholarship," has been changed to read: "Exclusive: Carson claimed West Point 'scholarship' but never applied."This says it all. They are making a big deal over the word scholarship and making it look like he has been saying he applied and received a scholarship. He has said on multiple occasions over the years that he only had $10 to spend on college applications so he only applied to one university - Yale - and was accepted. He has always maintained that he only applied to one university, and that he was told by Westmoreland at a dinner that he should apply and that he'd receive a scholarship to West Point. Now, is that hard to believe - that a young, talented, intelligent, ROTC, African American high school student, who had the qualifications to be accepted to Yale might be the type of candidate that a guy like Westmoreland would want to recruit to West Point during dinner?
I guarantee you that this story will evaporate within hours.
The biggest losers are the media and the longer they pursue this the worst they look. Watch the story disappear.
So obviously ridiculous.
Yes! I deny it.
This so ridiculous.
Rush called it an attempted political assassination by the mainstream media.
