PORTLAND, OR -- The TSA says it's investigating an incident where a 90-year-old woman was forced to strip after setting off body scanners.
Alan Charney told ABC affiliate KATU-TV that his mother Harriette went through the full body scanner at Portland International Airport when the alarm went off. TSA agents quickly pulled her aside.
"It was obvious they were going into a search," Charney said. "But I presumed they were just going to sort of pat her down."
And, the muslims are not having to be inconvenienced. 90 year old grandmothers are. And, no, the lower case is not a mistake.

The poor old woman probably thought she’d been captured by the enemy.
I was tempted to protest once or twice but didn't...regrettably.
A man at our church was hired by TSA when it was first created. I was shocked because although he was a nice guy, he wasn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer. It was obvious, too, after even a short conversation with him. No doubt in my mind he fit the profile of someone who would gladly follow orders.

About the only place I regularly see people in Muslim garb is at the airport. They all seem to work there, making the effort to check me out and make sure I’m not a terrorist.

Did they find anything of danger in her bra ?
Grandma is really thinking, WTF! I could just see the TSA folks when they escorted her into the strip/interrogation room, "Keep your hands where we can see them grandma".
In a sense, she was IMHO..
Alarms went off, she must have had some metal objects on her person that she had not removed.

She had a wad of cash in her bra. A metal detector wouldn’t have found it. TSA likely figured they had caught a drug mule.
My elderly mother had a rod in one, and steel plates in another femur ....which she had fractured over time [but repaired] , due to osteoporosis.
To *look* at her you wouldn’t notice that she was anything more than a 92 y/o grannie.
Alarms would go off like crazy .... she carried verifications from her surgeons to attest to the fact. TSA didn’t care. They are jerks. First class jerks.
Not true. Alarms can be set off by nothing at all. I was stopped after going through the metal detector, and wanded all over. the wand set off an alarm as it passed over my left shoulder. I have no metal in my shoulder, no metal of any kind anywhere on my body. The idiot patted me all around my shoulder, repeatedly asked me why his alarm was going off--as if I could tell him. Finally he just shrugged and let me go.
Gotta remember, these people are government employees and union to boot.
