Trump still up by a healthy 15 points, but an 11 point increase for Carson from last week. So for whatever reason, there is a surge for Carson and confirms the Iowa numbers to some extent. I can't fathom this whatsoever. I don't understand the fascination with Carson or what people think he brings to the table. If Republican voters are that superficial that they vote for a guy because he is nice or because he's a good Christian, then say hello to President Hillary.

Carson won’t get crossover votes, so yes, if he is the nominee - say hello to President Hillary Clinton. Carson puts me to sleep and I can’t imagine listening to him give a State of the Union speech. It would be more like a State of the Union Sleep speech. He might want to give them late at night for the insomniacs.

I think we’re seeing Carson in the rear-view mirror getting smaller and smaller despite what these phony-sounding reports about Iowa say.

Is this Poll nationwide? Or is this for a certain state?

Dr. Carson is the LAST bullet left for GOPe & the Media to shoot down Trump.

Carson up 6 from last week. If you look at the internals: http://morningconsult.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/151006_crosstabs_trend_v2_AP.pdf (LOL Page 156) Trump Men: 35, Women 34. Almost no gender gap. Hmmmm

I didn’t believe the 40%, and I don’t believe the 35%.

Folks, they prop them up to knock them down.

They had to put Trump at 40% to show him declining.

When he gets to the 32% he had all along, they can’t describe it as him have lost a major slice of his support.

Horse stuff...

I think 40% last week was a little high. 34 two weeks ago and this week’s 35, nationally seem more correct. Let’s be real folks. It’s a long time to the first votes. Slow and steady wins, usually.

“confirms the Iowa numbers to some extent”

Nope. Coverage of the Iowa “surge” is generating a surge nationwide. Get ready.

This may not be a bad thing. If Carson wins Iowa and Trump wins NH the race will be polarized between them.

The rise of the anti Trump is inevitable. Carson will be very easy to beat.

Its not like I dislike Carson. I just at this point prefer Trump.

Both men are not part of the establishment that the rank and file conservatives have revolted against. But of all the candidates it has been Trump has the leader that has taken hit after hit and is still in the lead.

Iowa, say what you want -they like to do things their own way. But I would not put it past the pollsters to pull something like polling particular areas while ignoring others. I can see Carson getting the evangelical votes more than Trump.

I think Trump is doing fine, he is going from rally to rally drawing big crowds at each. It has been fin watching the media forcing themselves to cover him only to have him bash said media.

If immigration can stay as one of the top topics - Hillary doubled down and said she would go beyond Obama. That comment will be in tv ads soon.

I do believe the Trump Train is chuggin along just fine.

If I were Trump I would not worry about Carson at all. His function is to keep Bush, Rubio, Fiorina, Kasich, et. al. in single digits.

This may be an artifact a glitch of Carson’s polling in Iowa looking so recently good. I am not certain.

I think though it would be unwise to discount simple “Trump fatigue” from this equation. And Carson is definitely the antidote to the brash self-importance Trump exudes.

Real people, not just those on the Internet, some of which apparently breathe atmospheres of contempt and loathing for those who disagree with them, but real people who can’t live day in and day out with rage and political vitriol may have tired of the diet Trump offers.

“Just sayin”

Morning Consult had Trump at 32% in late September so Trump went up 3% for the month. :-)

The graph corresponds directly to the Club for Growth smear ads that ran in Iowa, the convergence of mainstream media including FOX leading the way, and the well timed cascade of CASH for Carson by his PAC ground troops.

According to Trump, Carson has not been in Iowa for example, all that much, but his PAC has built the ground game for him and really covered Iowa.

Whatever, it’s a certainty that there is now, and will be a sustained convergence of money and interests all amassing in battle array, ready to strike and try to take Trump down.

Trump will need ground troops willing to walk and talk and work. He does need us.

I think you’re right, there is a MOE up to 40, down to 32 range here. Carson’s support still mystifies me. I can explain and understand Fiorina’s support, especially from younger, hipper, CA people who think she’s “really smart.” But Carson? I don’t get it.

When Carson takes the lead over Trump in NH and SC you can start taking him serious. Aint happening. Evangelicals in SC want a take-charge leader who will take Clinton apart and will bring jobs back to America and restore our prestige around the world. No one can do that but Trump.
