Washington (AFP) - The world would be a better place if dictators such as Saddam Hussein and Moamer Kadhafi were still in power, top Republican US presidential hopeful Donald Trump said in comments aired Sunday.
The billionaire real estate tycoon also told CNN's "State of the Union" talk show that the Middle East "blew up" around US President Barack Obama and former secretary of state Hillary Clinton, his biggest Democratic rival in the race for the White House.

“Tariq Aziz. Iraqi foreign minister, was Catholic. Name one other muslim country where a christian would be in a position of power like that.”
This is true, I read a debate the other day and the counterpoint seemed to be that one had the Vichy-French, even the Japanese had some friendly to them in some of the areas they conquered such as Laos.
The old saying about dealing with the Devil you do know rather than one you don’t comes to mind.
“During the cold war, we supported all kinds of evil tin pot dictators (Saddam included)because the alternatives were severely damaging to global stability.”
That is the mantra of the anti-American left, yes.
It’s also poppycock.
The national leaders we supported against the communists—savage, murdering demons who *were* attacking constantly on all fronts—cannot correctly be termed “evil.”
The communists were evil. The bodies are properly laid at their door. The “tin-pot dictators” were struggling to prevent the reduction of their countries under absolute slavery. They were battling the greatest evil of the 20th century, and if the murderous depravity of the communists forced strong measure to combat them, well, I don’t have any respect for he who casts the first stone at them.
The TV series “Narcos” painted Pinochet as a bad guy because he had to fight the communist insurgency that was at war with his country. They say he killed 3000 or so commies.
I wish it had been 300,000 commies tortured and killed, and that the effort had spread to the entire western hemisphere. We would have done better to kill all the commmies, right down to the last cute freshman girl.
In Life and/or Politics, 3 questions must be asked
In chronological order (and from easy to hard)
1. What Do You Want?
2. How Do You Get It?
3. And Then What Happens?
In regards to the subject of this thread (Libya and Iraq) The 1st two are easy get rid of two really bad guys, Invade the country throw the bastard out (Iraq) bomb the living bejeezus out of the guy until he's captured and his breathing privileges are revoked (Libya). The 3rd question was never asked about Libya (Obama doesn't really care about foreign affairs). In Iraq the 3rd question was not really considered all that deeply (for the record I believe getting rid of that SOB was a very very good and nobel thing, and the world is a much better place with Saddam rotting in the grave). Iraq was well on its way to becoming a stable democracy when (thanks to the Libertarians/Paleo-Cons/The Left) we pulled out.

“Why did Bush the 1st and the press think we had a moral obligation to return a kingdom to autocratic absolute monarchists? His presumed next conquest, Saudi Arabia, would have done the World a favor.”
That ain’t the point. I was over there in the 1980s, and it was my opinion—and that of others—that the US needed to establish some credibility in the region. The only way to have done that would have been to achieve a dramatic military victory.
In short, it was in the best interests of the US to go over there and kick somebody’s butt. Anybody’s, didn’t matter whose.
Unfortunately, the continued survival of the left in American politics—especially including the leftard mafia in the CIA—ensured that it all got screwed up.
Sadam was offed because he tried to kill GHW Boosch. Kadaffy was offed because Hillary wanted to loot Libya.
That’s the truth.
Old man Bush was also the first to really start using the term “New World Order”. Others had used that term but he really got it going.
“Not all nations will or even CAN embrace the system we have here and obozo is attempting to destroy (so HE can become the strong man/dictator?).”
I think you mean the system we were supposed to have here. Nothing resembling the constitutional republic of the United States of America has existed for quite some time now except in memory. The time to nip it in the bud passed by us over a hundred years ago. You cannot have a real republic when the tiny percentage who even know the difference between republic and democracy grows smaller every day.
The Rats want to look at Hillary as America’s Grandmother.
She is the Grandmother of ISIS and Obama is the Coach of their JV Team.
