Chesterfield County sheriff's deputies arrested Brent Nicholson, 51, of Pageland Saturday. The guns were found stacked in his house, a nearby storage building, a liquor store he runs with his father and at his parents' home, The Charlotte Observer in North Carolina reported.
There were so many guns we quit counting after a while, Sheriff Jay Brooks said.
"This investigation is far from over."
Besides the guns, authorities also found crossbows, ammunition, taxidermed animal heads and scores of chainsaws.
The sheriff said it didn't appear Nicholson was accumulating weapons, not selling them.

Saw this when CNN picked up the story.
Chainsaws?
It seems a bunch of what he had was stolen.
Yes...CNN will broadcast it hourly for at least 72 hours.
The police saw what they thought was stolen goods in his yard, so they entered his house and stole his gun collection.

I confess to being a book hoarder. I own between 4-5000 books.
Fortunately, I am protected by the First Amendment.
The opening of the story is written to make you think he was arrested for having too many guns.
He was arrested on drug charges.
Same thought here. How many gund equals a crime?
How did they find out. I bet some liberal do-gooder ratted him out.
So, basically, screw the opium and heroin trafficking charges and the possession of stolen items, he had GUNS!!!! OMG!!! And the article even says it didn’t appear that he used them, he just wanted them. So, is the disposition in NC to return to the rightful owner if possible then auction them or destroy them? Do the cops get first pick?
After all this I have to shake my head because I just got an email response from hairy screed telling me the first line of defense to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and TERRORIST was universal background checks. So this story must be false. I mean if we can’t trust hairy, what’s left? :>}
Sounds like he was a drug dealer that occasionally traded drugs for stolen guns.
WBTV reported Nicholson had been arrested and charged with trafficking opium and heroin earlier in the week in Union County. The Charlotte TV station said deputies reportedly had gone to serve him with a subpoena Friday and noticed what appeared to be stolen goods in his front yard.
Hording chainsaws and animal heads too.
Hording is just another socialist term for “all property is theft”.
Envy is a sin.
Sounds like a news report I heard on the radio forty years ago in which police were called to check on a man and found “A LOADED GUN IN EVERY ROOM!”
It’s not envy when they have it and you deserve it...
So the man has broken no law but arrested anyway. They use this tactic because they probably know when his attorney gets to court they have nothing to convict him on but they want to make sure he does not get the guns back and maybe put him on the list so he can’t purchase any more weapons or God forbid chainsaws.
Media sez- “Gun Hoarding Is A Crime”.
From the linked article:
"Brooks said Nicholson may have stolen some of the guns but most likely ought [sic] most from other thieves"
"May have" and "likely bought" are not evidence and proof of wrongdoing. Police should be doing due diligence and confirming it instead of mouthing off before they've even checked serial numbers.
Sounds more like he was selling drugs to support his gun habbit.
