A Mexican immigrant married to an American citizen hasnt seen his wife in a year all because his tattoos made him look like a criminal, his family says.
Ruben Zamora, 29, has lived in the U.S. since he was 8 years old and when he left the country in July 2014, he expected to be able to return to his wife and two children within weeks, his lawyers said.
Instead, his request to return from Mexico was denied, because officials at the American Consulate said he has gang tattoos and, therefore, was part of a criminal enterprise.
My kids, like every day they ask me for their dad . . . When is he coming back and I dont have an answer for them, sobbed Vanessa Ruiz, who met Zamora in 2004.
Its really tough, she told the Daily News in an exclusive interview. Hes no gang member. Hes always been working.
” Reunite with your gang-banger husband in Mexico instead.”
Or, have the tattoos removed.
I married while in the service overseas in 1974. Even had a son after that. I was always told there was no guarantee my wife would be able to come with me or get a green card. It took nearly two years to get that stuff approved via several consular visits, interviews and paperwork in addition to health screenings, background checks and a number of other things.
I say tough toenails for this guy and his wife. We used to have much more stringent requirements. For him to be not approved means it’s more than just some tattoos.
So his wife won’t go to Mexico to be with her husband?
Well, the guy snuck in once already, so what is keeping him from sneaking in again?
Lots of facts missing from this article. I don’t buy that he returned to Mexico on his own simple to “pursue legal residency”.
You mean he cant LEGALLY return to the U.S. He will just have to sneak in like all the rest.
Yea, what’s wrong with the family moving with Mexico. Is there something wrong with Mexico?
ef em!
If you came here illegally, this is one of the problems all illegals should always have.
Maybe he should have thought twice before getting the ink?
Shut up and die.
Tough. Being married to an American isn’t enough.
A few years back in Jackson Michigan we had a Canadian arrested for stealing over $100,000 from Home Depot where she worked. Then it was discovered that she was illegally living and working in the USA so she was going to be deported. She and her boyfriend hurriedly got married out of the belief that it would prevent her deportation. It didn’t. Then it turned out that her husband was denied entry to Canada due to his lengthy felony record.
and breaking the laws of a sovereign nation.
I have a friend who married a Canadian nurse who was working in Arizona under pre-9/11 rules. She was told she was grandfathered under the new rules. Except when she went back to Canada to visit three years ago she wasn’t allowed back into the USA.
If he came here when he was 8 then I doubt he had much say in breaking the law. But the tattoo was entirely his decision.
One down . . . at least it’s a start.

If you want to speak Spanish...STAY IN MEXICO, CUBA, or other Spanish speaking hellholes...
He can re-unite with her in México...
What is it with the law-breaking left that always makes them want us to shed tears?
I don’t buy that dead “syrian baby” story nor this one.
