(KLFY) Acadia Parish, La. residents have mixed emotions about a photo featuring two educators at a costume party earlier this month.
Iota Middle School Principal Lee Ann Wall and her husband Jeptha Wall, who is a coach at Crowley High School, appear in the image.
Their costumes are described as People of Walmart. Jeptha can be seen wearing a red bandana around his waist with a gun tucked into his belt and money coming out of his pocket.
In front of Lee Ann is a basket full of black and white baby dolls and sign that read, You wait on pay day, I be waiting for da first of da month!
The photo was sent to KLFY by a viewer who called it a display of classism and racism. But not everyone thinks it should be taken so seriously.
Penny Fontenot lives in Iota and says sometimes a costume is just that: a costume. If theyre teaching your children right from wrong in the schools, what does a costume have to do with it?
We showed the photo to several other folks in Acadia Parish. They believe the costume choice crossed the line.
Wow, okay. So what is she trying to depict? Somebody whos on welfare? If that is what she was trying to depict thats even worse. Alan Honersucker told KLFYs Dalfred Jones.
Nathan Kresge, who also live in Iota said, To make fun of people that just cant afford a better way of life, to make fun of them? Thats just ridiculous!
Fontenot believes it just looks like a couple of people having some halloween fun, Its no big deal, its a costume, So, let them enjoy themselves while they still can.
Ellan Baggett, the Executive Director of Operations with the Acadia Parish School Board, says it was a private party, not school related.
Bagget also said the school board has taken appropriate action, although she could not tell us what those actions were.
We made several calls to both Crowley High and Iota Middle for a comment from Lee Ann and Jeptha Wall. They have not returned our messages.
I wish you had included a trigger warning with that photo. I’ve been micro-aggressed. Now I need to go to my safe space.
I’ve actually seen quite a few hotties in Walmart.
If people weren’t going out in public like that POW couldn’t exist. And I really doubt it has anything to do with unions since they aren’t talking about working conditions or pay, just pointing out bad public dress and behavior. If people are dressing like that on the Magnificent Mile that’s just proof we need to EXPAND the shaming.
"I can assure you that appropriate action was taken - including specific disciplinary measures. However, I have no idea what that action was, nor against whom the disciplinary measures were taken, nor who took those measures."
Regards,
Bill Cosby spoke up and look what they're doing to him .Chapelle made fun of it and look what happened to him.
Yet when behavior is truly depraved, perverse, and abominable, the typical response is "you shouldn't judge."
The perpetually-offended don't have any problem judging others. They live for it. They are unaware that they will be judged according to their own [unrighteous] judgment. They will be wailing on the way to the Abyss crying, "This isn't fair".
She’s the bee’s knees.
Where does it say this has to do with blacks? The people of Wal-Mart meme isn’t a racial thing.
And, I don't know what it's like in you town, but I won't go to Walmart anymore. I don't care how cheap their light bulbs are.
Nothing but welfare folks and Illegals. At least in my CA town.
I get where I can't even look at it anymore. An entire commercial building full of nothing but parasites.
And criticize their own mother?
I had some shopping to do on one of those Friday nights, and there in the store was this bombshell chick, maybe out of highschool, but definitely no older than 21, and she was ALLL slutted out... Hair and makeup all done up, a tight top that her teats were all falling out of, a miniskirt that was so short her ladyparts were nearly showing, and 5 inch spike heel knee-high boots.
She was hot.
But what was hilarious about the whole thing was watching as she walked past all the checkout registers on her way out, and every single 16 year old zit-faced boy that was working the registers, completely ground to a halt and stared. One kid was standing there with his mouth open in disbelief... I am pretty sure he had to wipe the drool off his chin with his shirtsleeve.
It was pure comedy... and I realized right then that all the entertainment one could need on a Friday night in Warren, PA was RIGHT THERE AT THE WAL*MART, FOR FREE!
People have too much time on their hands. They get upset over things that mean nothing. Take the White’s down by any means possible.
That being said, those are two of the lamest costumes I’ve very seen. So what?
If it was a Black Live’s Matter Costume, folks would be tossing love their way.
If this incident proves anything it shows that people have no class on the one hand and no sense of humor on the other.
That’s just wrong! Welfare checks don’t usually arrive until the 3rd or 4th of the month.
Guess they were never there on EBD day. (Was that wrong for me to say that?).
A flapper is a young woman who is bold and unconventional. I know several who are like that.
The critics of these two should be forced to watch all this season’s episodes of South Park.
Me too! In fact, I think she should remove those offending garments right now!!

His tongue was probably hard.
