In an exclusive interview with The Brody File, Ted Cruz says he has a plan to begin highlighting, policy differences between him and Donald Trump. There are plenty of policy differences and there may well come a time when we start highlighting those more, Cruz tells The Brody File. In a political campaign there are seasons and phases to it as the race narrows down, as people start making choices, we may see some more policy contrasts.
Cruz has been climbing in the polls and has the money to make a serious run at the nomination. Hes been courting evangelical voters since his announcement speech at Liberty University. The truth is this: Cruz needs Trump to fade to have a realistic shot. The Brody File contends that Trumps biggest threat is not Jeb or Rubio. Its Cruz. Hes going after many of the same voters as Trump and he has the credentials, intellect, debating skills and passion to really make a dent in Trumps voter pool.
One other quote from Cruz during our interview:
I think the sharpest difference between my record and that of every other candidate is that people are tired of campaign conservatives. Theyre tired of people who talk a great game while theyre on the campaign trail but they actually havent walked the walk and I think people are looking for a consistent conservative.
Watch the video at the link from CBN News/The Brody File.
You have a good HC plan, and most of your points agree with my views. I wish Trump, and others, especially the Dems, would agree with it.
No, last month. He supported universal healthcare, government-paid-for, healthcare Sept 27,2015.
Then I think you are going to believe anything he says. Nothing anyone can do about that.
Thanks for your courteous reply and discussion.
The second paragraph isn’t an accurate paraphrase of the first.
Universal healthcare is a conservative solution. So long as it is not run by the government.
I am sick and tired of paying higher insurance premiums to cover those who do not bother buying insurance. 60% of Americans have less than $1000 net worth, according a report recently published. When those Americans get into a car accident or come down with a serious health issue, they can’t pay their hospital bills. Then people like me get stuck paying higher healthcare premiums to cover those irresponsible people. How is that conservative?
I am for individual responsibility. Which means every individual must carry their own insurance or prove that their net worth exceeds a million dollars. This idea of universal health coverage was initiated by Heritage Foundation.
Again, I am against government run universal healthcare. The government should simply require that everyone buy health insurance from a private business. When Trump publishes his position papers for healthcare, only then we can have an intelligent discussion.
Have you read through Trump’s position papers on Tax reform, 2nd Amendment, Immigration Reform ? Do you have any comments on those?
Wait until Trump publishes his position papers on universal healthcare. Only then we can have an intelligent discussion. Quoting out of context speech comments is usually not a good method to discuss intelligently.
Thank you very much for taking time to analyze my healthcare plan.
I don’t see healthcare there? Is it there and if so is it different that what he supported last month?
I made it clear in my previous post, WAIT UNTIL Trump publishes his position papers on healthcare. You are correct, he has not published it yet. Therefore any intelligent discussion of his healthcare agenda is premature.
Campaign is very young. 3+ Months before Iowa caucus. Trump will publish his policy papers long before Iowa.
You are welcome.
In your previous post you stated he supported universal government-paid-for healthcare "15 years ago." I provided the link showing he supported it last month.
My question now is: if in the next month or so he says he doesn't support it, will you believe him?
I think you will, if so, I wonder: Why?
Since Trump’s healthcare position papers are not yet officially published, whatever you are seeing and posting is not official policy, and therefore irrelevant and probably out of context. Do you have a link to a video where Trump presented his explicit healthcare position, so it will be with context?
It is the same thing as some Cruz supporters claim that “Cruz pushing to expand H1-B visa foreign workers five times” is a lie. But there is video which makes it clear whether it is a lie or truth.

Excuse one, excuse them all? But he did it too?
I think we have to judge credibility and integrity; have to look at a candidate's previous actions and statements, determine if they are consistent and whether they can be believed.
And, I did notice you really didn't answer the questions in my previous post.
I believe Trump will follow through with what is on his official position papers.

Thanks for your reply.
First of all: Why do believe him? You are aware of his support for liberal positions and major liberal candidates in the past, yes?
Second: Do you believe his position is to deport all illegal aliens? If so, is that what he says or what is in his position papers?
Very simple reasons....
Without a great big Wall on the southern border, we have no country.
Without deporting ALL illegals FIRST and then pick and choose the good ones to return. ALL OTHER CANDIDATES including the constitutional conservative Mr Cruz does not utter the words “DEPORT ALL ILLEGALS FIRST”. If Illegals are allowed to stay, a democrat president will eventually award them voting rights. Then we can forget about ALL conservative issues.
Those are 2 of my highest priorities for 2016.
Trump’s previous positions are not important. Every person is allowed to change. Even I have changed from a democrat volunteer in Chicago distributing JFK material to voting straight republican since Nixon. I do not pummel myself every morning because once I was a democrat.
I believe that’s what you think should be done.
What I don’t understand is why you think that’s what Trump believes or will do.
Is this part of his positions that you posted: “DEPORT ALL ILLEGALS FIRST?
Does Trump share your priorities here?
They already have and he’s answered. Over and over.
