Rep. Paul Ryan announced Thursday that he is officially running for speaker of the House, and he is likely to be elected next week.
"I never thought I'd be speaker," Ryan said in a statement. "But I pledged to you that if I could be a unifying figure, then I would serve -- I would go all in. After talking with so many of you, and hearing your words of encouragement, I believe we are ready to move forward as a one, united team. And I am ready and eager to be our speaker."

As far as I’ve been able to find all he gave the HFC apparently was a seat on the Steering Committee. That’s something but not enough.
But maybe there’s more. I sure hope so.
Seems he getting his demand for a change in the ‘vacate’ vote too.
Need 30 to vote against him and there’s only about half that. I assume he’d withdraw without sufficient Republican support.

“However, after details about the meeting leaked out, it all started to make sense. First, the The WAPO reported that Ryan had agreed to abide by the Hastert Rule. That’s significant because it means he couldn’t push an amnesty bill unless the majority of Republicans in the House went along with it, which is extraordinarily unlikely.”

So, the fix is in.
Of course, he said he wouldn’t run unless he had the endorsement of all of the various prominent caucuses, which he did not receive.
So, he’s starting off with a lie and a broken promise.
I guess that’s just the way he rolls.
Which makes him the perfect guy to represent this generation of American politicians I guess.
