The reality is that Liberals are already using this power against us. Turning the tables on them is only the start of a long term solution. We have to defeat them first. Fighting fire with fire is the best way to accomplish this.
You are suggesting we do like Mitch McConnell, and throw away the 50 vote "Nuclear option" which the Liberals did not hesitate to use on us. We must throw it away because we are too ethical to hoist them by their own petard.

Since all right wing thought is already scrubbed, the only people left to scrub are members of the other side. How again does this backfire? All our troops were carried off the field. Not much chance of a friendly fire incident.

When the US Federal Government was 2% of GDP (prior to Woodrow Wilson, the Progressives and the Federal Reserve) - things like education, health care, crime, public morals - were handled by society at large, usually at the most local level. People had freedom, and they had responsibility. Their free associations created the "rules" of society. This vast general consensus and outcomes it produced was known as "civil society."
When government is large, citizens and civil society are small. Look at the Soviet Union or Maoist China. Those extreme Marxists insisted Government control EVERYTHING, so all units of civil society - religion, social clubs, NGO's, were all destroyed or co-opted. This is what the Left/Progressives of America are after - co-opting the units of civil society within government and their political framework to advance their goals.
Which is: Even the opponents of Socialism are dominated by socialist ideas.
Implying that turning the weapon of government on the advocates of government is a "socialist" idea, rather than repurposing a captured enemy weapon.
Pray tell, what weapon do you suggest we turn on these academics which are brainwashing our children? Or do you suggest we just leave them alone and do nothing?
Right. We need to stop being polite and attack communism and atheism wherever it hides and restore the constitutional Christian republic we used to have until about 40 years ago.
The left is in the minority in this country, but it has a vast infrastructure in that it controls education (especially higher education), the science establishment, unions and the mainstream media.
There will come a time when patriots will have to be aggressive in re-taking that ground. Tenure needs to go away. Unions need to go away. Colleges that attack American values have to be defunded — that includes private institutions like the Ivy League schools, which accept federal student aid dollars and research grants. That money has to be re-directed toward other places that will uphold our values.
Not so strange comment from Carson. The more he speaks, the more he’s showing his true colors. Most of them have blue hues.
Carson is strange...and has even stranger followers.
The thought police already rule the Universities. If Carson were to do to them what they already do to others it would be high irony. Still, best thing is to shut down all Federal education and let the States keep their own money. Carson doesn’t understand that it’s none of the Fed’s business at all.
When he doesn’t “think” deeply about things-—he can be really way out there, like he was on guns. After getting all the facts, he is much more logical.
There are many lies and misinformation out there-—always has been....that is the trouble. He has good morals and base instincts...but where he is ignorant, at least he is not so full of pride, that he would NOT look into alternatives——which need to be the total abolishment of the Department of Education. I think he could be the one to reach such a conclusion.

I agree that is a dumb idea.
On the other hand, letting students who have their civil rights violated by the left wing PC crowd have access to the Department of Justice to remedy the very things which the ObaMao-Holder-Lynch Cabal is encouraging to enforce their little fascist fifedoms on college campuses isn't such dumb idea.

They are already working for the other side. Have you not been paying attention? Does the name "Lois Lerner" not ring a bell for you?
What you are advocating is the status quo, where conservative thought is "thought policed" off of campus right now, out of a fear that even more conservative thought is somehow going to get even more "thought policed" off of campus in the future.
There is very little left that the thought police can attack because they have already driven most of it out. The only targets left are Liberal targets.
That you should worry about some future date, after which the liberals will turn the thought police on us, would require us to have been so successful in getting conservative thoughts on the campus in the first place in order for them to have something to target.
In the future, the worst they could do to us is to return us to the current conditions.
And that there is the fookin truth.
You guys will never learn. You always think you can sway the power of big government to work for you if only you get your hands on the levers of power. It never ends well. The solution is to get rid of big government root and branch. There is no need for the Dept of Education in the first place. Get rid of it, period. Education will do just fine without it. You do not think it could be worse. Think again, it can.
If I were king for a day, I would abdicate.
but first, I would divide the country into 50 parts (or 57 if I were Obama). I would let these local governments, or even country or town governments, make decisions about education, hospitals, voting rights, how people are married. I would also make them responsible for taxing their citizens to pay for it, in a commonly accepted, un-debaseble currency (ie. gold/silver)
Each would elect and send representatives to the Capital to agree on the limited issues which effected everyone - the most basic of freedoms, external defense, trade among themselves
I would call it a “Constitution.”

You are correct, but you are focusing on a triviality. Allowing the condition of only left wing thought in the Universities is sowing the wind for which we shall and are currently, reaping the whirlwind.
Something must be done about it, and it matters not to me if you call the people doing something about it the "Department of Education" or something else.
The current conditions in Academia are akin to deliberate discrimination against religion and creed. Indeed, they are very close to being exactly that.
So we use the Justice Department. I don't care who the goons are. I just care that we get some goons out there to give them a taste of their own medicine.
Then we get THEM to decide that we shouldn't be using such medicine.
