Vice President Biden announced Wednesday that he will not run for president, ending months of feverish speculation over his 2016 plans and likely settling the Democratic field.
Speaking in the Rose Garden alongside his wife Jill and President Obama, Biden said the window of opportunity to mount a viable campaign "has closed." He has been weighing a decision since summer, but cautioned all along that he and his family were grieving over the loss of his son Beau Biden -- and said Wednesday he knew that process could outlast the window for making a decision.
"Unfortunately I believe we're out of time, the time necessary to mount a winning campaign for the nomination," Biden said.

1) He’s run for President four times. Miserably.
2) He’s got all kinds of soundbites from the 2012 campaign that turned out to be untrue.
3) He’d have to defend Obama’s foreign policy.
4) He’d have to defend Obama’s domestic policy.
Wow, I thought after the Elizabeth Warren meeting there was a serious chance he would run. The primary polling scared him, though it looked like he would be much stronger than Hillary in the general election machrups.
Hillary is going to be indicted by the US Justice Department. Biden’s announcement reduces his being blamed by the Hillary supporters in the future.

Yuck what a gross old perv he is.
To me, they got the word that nothing is coming out of this committee looking at her and she will not be indicted by DOJ.
Any chance either of those two things happening, he would have run.
Isle of Man is looking like a good place to bail to.
Assassination insurance for jugears.
Is anyone else on this thread THOROUGHLY DISGUSTED by the CNN “style” of coverage”
Joe and Jill appear for his LBJ style speech of not choosing to run.
CNN assigns a male/female team to cover and report from DC. Each camera position showed the 2 ^journalists^ in same way Joe&Jill were pictured in the Rose Garden; he on the left, she on the right.
Why does CNN think the political pandering is not obvious?
And she has a very good chance of being the first person elected to the Office of President while under indictment. People these days assume that all politicians are crooks, so having confirmation is not an impediment.
I agree 100%. Biden walked a very tight rope with that speech. Biden’s reason for not running had to do with logistics, (ie ran out of time). Had he said he was tired, or had no desire, it would be very difficult to ride in on the white horse to save the dem party when Hillary goes down.
In addition, when he does ride in to save the dem party, there will be no bad blood between he and Hillary and he should easily win the Hillary-bots.
N) He’ll be too busy telling crippled people to stand up, and too busy shooting 00 Buck through closed doors...
BuckeyeGOP is a smart person. But everybody already knew that.
If Biden were to get in now and wrest the nomination from Hillary with all her baggage, ardent Hillary supporters would be upset with him and some of them might not vote for him in the general election. However, if Biden knows Hillary will be indicted, why not wait for that to happen and have the party turn to him as its savior?
I suggested Sardinia awhile back. The family was not amused.
Providing, of course, that there really was a request from his dying son. Look, people are on their own time table to handle grief, and like Biden or not, he is entitled to grieve his loss. I just don’t think he has the heart or the smart to be president. He actually knows the mess this country is in, and right now - he is known as an elder statesman, and doesn’t want to tarnish that by losing a presidential election. Besides, he will be 74 by next November, and maybe he just wants to retire. I’m not a fan, but, sometimes he speaks the truth -like when he said the middle class in America is in serious trouble.
Well the way he hemmed and hawed around about running and saying his son told him to run before his son died left a bit to be desired about him.
I doubt he really wants it. I doubt he wanted to be VP.
I think he’d be perfectly happy with a box of crayons. And I’m being completely serious. He was promoted all his life to his level of incompetence and not of his choosing. He was the perpetual fall guy that never truly fell as he never needed to take the fall. He was also insurance against the fall above him because of it.
Trump has cornered the anti-neocon vote
