Skip to comments. The Republican Front Runner is a Huge Fan of Michael Moore

What a long way that we have come in this country. The Republican front runner in 2015 is parroting Michael Moores 2004 propaganda film Fahrenheit 9/11 almost verbatim and theres actually a discussion as to whether this constituted good politics. Somehow almost everyone who is commenting on this story is completely missing the boat as to what Trumps parroting of Michael Moores talking points actually means in the context of the current Republican debates.
In the first place, I dont think Trump has any identifiable core beliefs about what happened on 9/11 and who is to blame. I dont really think that Trump has frankly though through the implications of what hes saying with respect to what Bush should have known about 9/11 and what institutional changes he could have been expected to put into place in the 8 months he was in office prior to the worst terrorist attack in United States history. All Trump knows is that he perceives this attack as being damaging to Jeb Bush, and so he is prepared to use it.
Second, I think it is incorrect to say that these comments by Trump make him a truther. Trump is not saying, at least as far as I can tell, that Bush directly caused 9/11, or that he had foreknowledge of 9/11 and chose to do nothing about it. Trump isnt quoting from Loose Change, hes quoting from Michael Moore. His argument is not that Bush was complicit, his argument is that Bush was incompetent......
The point is that Donald Trump is willingly attacking Jeb Bush from the left and not just the center left, but the fringe, extremist left who were already routed conclusively in the 2004 elections...

Yawn, establishment panic.
I was told that Trump is playing chess, even though he handed the Dems something to talk about for the next 12 months.
"....On Monday, former Democratic National Committee communications director Brad Woodhouse sent an email to supporters with the subject line Trump is right about 9/11, linking to an article with the same headline in The Atlantic that argues George W. Bush could have done more to prevent the attack.
Meanwhile, liberals trumpeted an exchange between Jeb Bush and CNN anchor Jake Tapper from over the weekend in which the former Florida governor had to answer why his brother shouldnt shoulder more blame for the nations security leading up to 9/11 if Republicans can blame former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for the lack of security leading up to the 2012 terrorist attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya....."
Trump is just poking a hole or two in that story line. Can't blame him for that. Trump's message that his immigration policies would keep us safer than those of the open-border Bushes is just common sense.
And 'W' attacked Cruz, not Trump...
"Curiouser and curiouser", said Alice.
“the former Florida governor had to answer why his brother shouldnt shoulder more blame for the nations security leading up to 9/11 if Republicans can blame former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for the lack of security leading up to the 2012 terrorist attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya.....”
Brilliant on Trump’s part.
Jeb’s main strength is his name and recent connection to a POTUS. With one stroke trump told the truth about GW and opens the door to jeb’s role in FL... CALLING INTO QUESTION HIS LEADERSHIP ON THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE of Jeb’s time as a governor.
Thanks for highlighting this .
Because W. thinks that Cruz is sucking-up to Trump. Given the polls, I can see why.
Yes, absolutely brilliant. Like firing on your own troops in order to confuse the enemy.
Pure bunk. The two are on very different pages.
Besides Moore is anti-Trump.
Saying that deporting criminals who overstay their visas would have prevented those criminals from overstaying their visas and then murdering 2,977 innocent Americans is not "fringe, extremist left". It's a simple fact. Bush did his best, which is far better than Jeb could possibly do, but he should have done more to protect us from illegals. Trump is my #2 choice, well behind Ted Cruz, and irrational nonsense like this is not going to change my opinion in either direction.
More disordered logic from Redstate = much ado about nothing...again.
Even before Trump became this popular, and throughout the campaign, Cruz and Trump have not attacked each other. I don’t see that non-aggression as “sucking up”. I do see portraying it that way as another attempt to attack Cruz, whom W made no bones about not liking. Cruz is the threat to the GOPee. Cruz has been a thorn in their side for a long time now. Trump, not so much, despite lately attacking all the right people. Even Trump’s 9/11 attacks on the W administration do not gain traction because they are readily dismissed by the people who just tune that out and so they are no threat to the establishment.
So you’re on an anti-Trump page now.
So who do you support please?
Cruz is the threat to the GOPe, but Trump is not . . . I need to start following politics.
Still on the GOPe social-media posting beat, I see.
"Please provide me information so that I may develop my personal attacks."
What point is there for me to support anyone when Trump, TRUMP! is leading (by the numbers) to run against Hillary?
The world is mad.
