nside a sleek Denver condominium, George W. Bush let a hundred donors to his brother’s campaign in on a secret. Of all the rival Republican candidates, there is one who gets under the former president’s skin, who he views as perhaps Jeb Bush’s most serious rival for the party’s nomination.
It isn’t Donald Trump, whose withering insults have sought to make Jeb pay a political price for his brother’s presidency. It also isn’t Marco Rubio, Jeb’s former understudy who now poses a serious threat to his establishment support.
“I just don’t like the guy,” Bush said Sunday night, according to conversations with more than half a dozen donors who attended the event.
One donor in the room said the former president had been offering mostly anodyne accounts of how the Bush family network views the current campaign and charming off-the-cuff jokes, until he launched into Cruz.
“I was like, ‘Holy $hit, did he just say that?’” the donor said. “I remember looking around and seeing that other people were also looking around surprised.”
“And to think, (some) Free Republic women 10 years ago were actually swooning on this forum over his muscles while 43 cleared shrubbery on the ranch.”
Ew. That is perfectly nauseating. Like those women who like Rubio. Sad, lonely soccer moms who read “mommy porn” like “50 shades of Grey”.
I love this guy. Classy, gracious, and respectful. Traits that none of the Bushes ever had or ever will.

Of all the twits, twerps and no-goods that W could have spoken out against in the last 15 years, and he chooses Ted Cruz to lash out at. I think I just lost whatever respect for W I still had left.

Another Iraq invasion myth. The biggest of course being that we went in because of WMDs. All anyone has to do is read GWB’s statement on the eve of the invasion to see it was Saddam’s ignoring UN inspections and sanctions that precipitated the Coalition’s invasion.
The same rationale today would have had us invading Iran last year for violating UN sanctions and inspections. There would be the usual cries about “blood and treasure” but the world would be safer without Iranian nukes.

So, until Dubbya or his representatives can do more than ‘not deny’ the assertions, it would seem that they stand.
