Groups Now Coalesce to Support the Texas Senator for President
HOUSTON, Texas In unprecedented fashion, Senator Ted Cruz won the North Carolina Tea Party Constitutional Caucus, receiving just over 50 percent of the vote from conservative activists across the state. Dr. Ben Carson took second place, while no other candidate received more than 4 percent.
Hoping to strengthen the influence of conservatives in North Carolina, Tea Party groups decided to hold a statewide caucus to determine whom the groups would collectively support in the primary. Cruzs victory over the weekend signals that conservatives will coalesce around the Texas senator, rather than split their vote among various candidates.
North Carolina is an important state for the Republican primary, and our campaign will continue to build our team in the Tar Heel state to ensure our campaign is competitive, said Cruz. The Tea Party will be instrumental in helping to organize and elect a strong constitutional conservative and I am honored to receive their support.
Cruz has long been a favorite of Tea Party groups, and the results from the caucus this weekend continue to show that he remains the activists choice for president.

Let’s face it - over the last few years, we have witnessed the hackification of the tea parties. They’re just more of the same old same old, why is why all their elected officials “go Washington” as soon as they get there.

Sounds like at least the TP in NC aren’t real sharp. While Cruz is better than most in the race, he IS beholden to his big bizness and cheap labor and lobbyist donors. Cruz is NOT a free man, politically. The two pro-Obola votes he cast this year prove it.
That really smells of some kind of compromise. If he’d frankly come out and said whom he had thought it would benefit, it would be better than these excuses. A sin, an error, even a mistake, can be learned from. An excuse can’t.
You should take this up with the Conservative Review’s Editor-in-Chief. You may get this answer: GET OFF THE PHONE, YOU BIG DOPE!
You tried the same idiotic line yesterday or the day before.
They guy is lying. Why would I care to dialogue with him?
You know what you are posting isn’t true, so you’re no better.
To dig no further would mean basically “Oh, trust the ACU.” But this isn’t even comparing apples to oranges. The ACU, at best, ranks politicians and all are evaluated on the same template. But here, we have one politician and two outsiders. How would Cruz have looked as a political newcomer? Virtues would have gotten scoffed away.
Yep, we are all responsible for whom we trust. It’s easy enough with Google to track when this factoid goes up, if tiresome to meet it with replies every single time.
That’s why I said what I did. Cruz has supporters that are lying for him. They’re here on the forum doing it.
Trump has position papers on some of that, and statements on the rest.
The ratings are fraudulent. It’s that simple.
Overall direction matters too.
Everybody makes mistakes; if they haven’t, at least not visibly, they have never tried anything new.
Who will consider the outcomes and learn? I’m actually less fearful about Trump than Cruz. Cruz has a pretty solid picture where he’s at, in the Senate, with a few questionable moves. With Trump there is a credible convergence process underway, with the desires of larger America being the touchstone. Trump knows how to learn from rednecks, in other words.
Thanks. I agree with your comments.

Any FReeper who knows who I'm talking about when I mention "GET OFF THE PHONE, YOU BIG DOPE!," please raise your hand.
Obviously the freepers who are familiar with that line and the person who likes to use it, would not be very worshipful of Trump.
Leaders lead, losers criticize.
Any FReeper knows what lying is, raise your hand.
I don’t think I ever heard his excuse.
And I’m not happy to say this in regard to Cruz, because I was pulling for him as the best we had available, until Trump announced and I scrutinized HIM for a month.
As a young man I had an old Christian mentor who had a thousand wise old sayings. One he told me severa times was, “Tommy, if you look an excuse over real close, you’ll usually discover that it’s really just the skin of a reason, with a lie stuffed into it.”
.
Cruz is way freer than Trump!
Trump is a heavy duty employer of illegal aliens.
Cruz has a list of accomplishments that even beats what Reagan had when he started.
Yes, the TEA party is quite sharp everywhere, and your trolling proves it in spades.
.
Troll on!
Concern trolls smell like digestive gasses.
You assume that the GOP base is for the establishment. This year, more than ever, this is clearly untrue.
You also assume that only the GOP base is for Trump. Also clearly not true. Many many people who do not usually pay attention this early, or to debates, are tuning in because of Trump. The ratings alone bear this out.
(I'm all-in for Cruz as the nominee, but I will vote for Trump 3rd Party if the GOP nominates anyone other than Cruz, Carson, or Trump.)
Polling that has been don based on registration data shows 63% of GOP likely voters oppose Trump unequivocally. (his solid negatives)
