You assume that the GOP base is for the establishment. This year, more than ever, this is clearly untrue.
You also assume that only the GOP base is for Trump. Also clearly not true. Many many people who do not usually pay attention this early, or to debates, are tuning in because of Trump. The ratings alone bear this out.
(I'm all-in for Cruz as the nominee, but I will vote for Trump 3rd Party if the GOP nominates anyone other than Cruz, Carson, or Trump.)

I am arguing that the Tea Party no longer represents the base of the Party. It has "gone Washington" and is as full of politicos and political hacks as the establishment is.
