DALLAS The Republican race for the White House comes to North Texas Sunday afternoon when six GOP candidates will attend a four-hour forum at Planos Prestonwood Baptist Church.
The sold-out event runs from 3 to 7 p.m. and will be streamed live on WFAA.com.
Organizers said they expect 7,000 people to attend and hear from former Gov. Jeb Bush; Dr. Ben Carson; Sen. Ted Cruz; Carly Fiorina; former Gov. Mike Huckabee; and former Sen. Rick Santorum. Front-runner Donald Trump is not expected to make an appearance.
Ted Cruz has been going after evangelicals with some success. This is an evangelical crowd on his home turf, so hes got a home field advantage here, said Texas Tribune executive editor and co-founder Ross Ramsey during an appearance Sunday on WFAAs Inside Texas Politics.
Each candidate will address the audience for 10 minutes, which will be followed by a one-on-one conversation with Dr. Jack Graham, pastor of the 40,000-member church, regarding critical issues and how faith impacts their lives. Candidates will not be on the stage together, organizers said in a news release.
Pastor Graham at Prestonwood endorsed Mike Huckabee during his presidential campaign two cycles ago. Well see which way Pastor Graham goes this time, said Fort Worth Star-Telegram columnist Bud Kennedy on Inside Texas Politics.
Forum organizers said they had invited other Republican or Democratic candidates to attend.
Ben Carson is on a book tour which under the rules, means he cannot campaign. Surely this is considered campaigning.

TED CRUZ is the overwhelming favorite when citizens are allowed to hear his message.

Well, well. Will see if the libs go after him and if the campaign lawyers go after him.
“Between 3 to 7” should be “between 3 and 7.” Sorry about that!
Too bad the Huckster will be there to try to siphon some of the evangelicals away from Cruz.
Dallas Texas 2006, during war time, under Republican George Bush.
500,000 illegal aliens march on Dallas Texas pushing foreign flags in our faces and while making demands and threats. All while Bush celebrated Cinco De Mayo up in the White House...During war time.
Darn, was that today?
doesn’t his suspension of campaigning start tomorrow?
It will start in about 45 minutes.
I just read a CNN of all places report that said his campaign was NOT suspended
An hour to go and it looks like about 5000 here
Yeah, anyone surprised that Trump isn’t showing up??
Candidates will get about a half-hour each on stage with the pastor. Fiorina is first on stage at 3:10 p.m., Cruz follows at 3:37 p.m. and Santorum is up next at 4:10 p.m. After a break, Huckabee is on at 4:44 p.m., then Carson at 5:30 p.m. and Bush at 6:15 p.m.
One article says he’s suspended his campaign until the 28th. Another says...not so. ????????????
Agree who knows
But I don’t think Carson or his campaign would be careless.’ He ain’t Hillary :) thinking she can do what she pleases
Start in 5 minutes.
