Dr. Benjamin S. Carson, renowned chief of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, underwent a two-hour operation at Hopkins yesterday for prostate cancer and should be ready to go home by Saturday, his surgeon said.
Although tests indicating whether the cancer had spread will take a few days to complete, Dr. Patrick Walsh said, the disease appeared confined to the prostate gland. If lab studies confirm that, he said, the possibility for a cure will be high.
"Everything looked good," said Walsh, Hopkins' chief of urology. "I've said I think this is a curable cancer, and everything today looked compatible with that."

Prayers for the fine Dr. Carson.
Is this why the book tour story came out?
Looks like he wasn’t taking a campaign timeout for a book tour after all.
This was in 2002.
Explains why he was taking a couple of weeks off.
I should have stated that an earlier post had Dr. Carson claiming that herbs cured him. This happened 13 years ago, not recently. It is intended to refute the other post.
The story is from 2002.
Might be good to indicate in the heading that this story is from 2002.
Any particular reason you posted this now 13 year-old story now, Robert DeLong? There’s a reason they call it ‘news.’
Here’s a hint: the word ‘new’ is contained therein.
This happened in 2002.
Thank you! I did mean to forget link. Wanted all to know this was way hold, and fake cure stuff...
Oh, I was surprised to see it since nothing had been in the news.
Perhaps the natural substances contained it.
Even though I don’t see Ben Carson as the winning candidate, and never have, I’m praying for him too. I wonder about this out of the blue announcement. Did Dr. Ben try to make this public before some tabloid did with a bias? Jeb! is that you in the deep weeds?
Does just being a presidential candidate make everyone feel authorized in asking for then obtaining personal medical data? Wonder what the HIPPA rules are about that, or do they think Carson would be ‘too nice’ to prosecute for release of confidential info?
Don’t do that. The time stamp says 2002.
Are you sure he said that? He had surgery! I say lies, Enquirer is running.
This turns out to be old—2002. I didn’t notice when I commented.
There was an earlier post that linked to this, which I no longer seem able to find. This is to refute that post.
It was actually posted by another Freeper, but was deleted due to no link being provided.
Thanks for posting. Now if people read and see this is old old news about his surgery. Enquirer running current study saying “cured himself in 3 weeks”.
BS. He had it cut out.
Do not believe he had bone mets or ever said he did.
