One of the surprises of the election season has been Ted Cruzs phenomenal fundraising numbers. He was out-raised by Ben Carson in the third quarter, $20 million to $12 million, but doubled Marco Rubios $6 million haul. And Cruzs momentum shows no sign of letting up: A source with the campaign tells me that between the start of the fourth quarter on October 1 and close of business on Friday, October 9, the campaign had raised $1 million.
A spokesman for Florida senator Marco Rubio, whose third quarter numbers were underwhelming, said hes on track to have the best fundraising month yet.
Republicans (see columns by Rich Lowry and George Will) and others (Frank Bruni, Charlie Cook), are starting to murmur that the momentum in this race is, for now, with Cruz, Rubio, and Carly Fiorina.
Jeb Bush hasnt released his third quarter numbers and, while fundraising isnt everything, he certainly has to sustain his financial dominance if he is to maintain a foothold in the race.
See my tagline.

$06.78 million in 61 days
$10.22 million in 92 days
Ted must be saving most of that money for next year, when the primaries start. Because I’m not seeing a lot of him on the shows, since he declared a few weeks ago. I guess the Lib-Talkers now realize Ted is not the guy you play ‘gotcha’ games with. He will simply turn the event into another stump for his Tea Party causes.

Which is sure not saying much! Something bigger than something relatively small can STILL BE RELATIVELY SMALL.
I’ll be happy to see January 2017 arrive with the duplicitous, devious Rubio out of the Senate.
Leave it to the National Review to find it “surprising”. He’s a true conservative, unlike the others, he’s smart as hell, he handles the media well, and he’s already shown that he’ll stand on principle. Ya think maybe THAT has something to do with it, NR?
Always a big push towards the end of the quarter, so $1 million in the first nine days is not bad, especially since he has a low burn rate.
Yep, but he was responsible for the “disastrous” shutdown after which his party won a landslide victory in the next election.
He’s campaigning on the cheap right now hitting little rural towns all across Iowa.
Smart strategy in my opinion.
He knows it is the last man standing and not a sprint. The American public has a short attention span no sense in playing your hand to soon.
I agree.
Rafael Cruz is also out campaigning for him as well. He’s made more than a dozen stops here in Michigan himself.
Thanks for the mention.
it costs millions just to get on the ballot in all 50 states.
Cruz & Co. are maximizing exposure to likely voters, while spending little. Very smart move at this juncture.
Is that right? Millions just to get on the ballot.
This is but one reason why today’s politician has become such a slave to the dollar. When John McCain spoke of campaign reform years ago, I had hoped this sort of thing was what he meant.
The deadline to file Q3 is Thurs midnight so all the camps’ numbers will be out Friday.
And. Not. One. Word. From. El Jefe.
Not. Even. A. Staff. Leak.
Those numbers must be mortifying.

Easy to do - just takes a minute.
CRUZ 2016
He’s running a very disciplined and methodical campaign.
