FULL TITLE: BOOM ! Trump Dominates Amid Republican Primary Voters – CBS Poll: Trump Is “The Most Electable” Candidate…

CBS has another National Poll reflecting Donald Trump with a substantive lead over the entire field of GOP candidates (Full Poll pdf below). However, beyond the leading support numbers Republican Primary Voters were asked this question:

Q17. Regardless of how you intend to vote in 2016, which one of these Republican presidential candidates do you think has the best chance of winning the general election in November 2016?

( FULL POLL DATA ) ( FULL POLL DATA )

BOOM !! That essential and critical question/answer destroys the GOPe (establishment) talking point of “electability“. By a stunning margin the Republican Primary Voter view Donald Trump as the best candidate to win in 2016. Stick that in your pipe George Will and Karl Rove!

The more general question of who do you support in the primary reveals a rather interesting dynamic when contrast against the question above.

Less people think Ben Carson can win in November of 2016 than currently support him in the primary. (This shows a VERY weak quishy support base) More people think Rubio, Bush and Fiorina could win in November 2016 than currently support them in the primary. (The “Hold Your Nose” Coalition) However, a significant number think Donald Trump is uniquely positioned to win in the general election November ’16, BEYOND their primary support. (The “Glorious Bastard/Vulgarian” *Coalition) {{ *Note* That’s me raising my hand and waving from the back of the room }}

Here’s the customary “who do you support” question responses:

But, but, obey said Trump wouldn’t win and the msm has been saying for a week he was dropping out and didn’t have the numbers!!!!

Very suspicious of what caused this sudden change. The other foot is going to fall soon.

Trump is a very different political animal. He transcends party. As time goes on he will grow on you—like mold. He might just do it! He can’t be worse than Obama! I think he could fix Obamacare and replace it with Trumpcare! nations would fear him the way they feared Reagan —He’s a crazy MF who will not back down. He may, Bring Peace, and Order. None of the “Black Lives Matter” BS for him. Its worth a shot. He will come out as one of two things—a terrible president who will serve one term or the greatest one since Ronld Reagan.

Taking a look at the Republican Primary and Caucus rules for 2016, I do not think it is possible to stop Trump. The rules overwhelming favor a candidate that gets the plurality of the vote, especially the primary system. The establishment cooked up this system to engineer a victory for the establishment candidate believing that the outsider candidates would split the vote of the more conservative voters (see 2012 and 2008) and the single establishment candidate would get the plurality and win the great majority of delegates to the convention. This has backfired bigtime. Unless there is an earthshaking development or a Trump withdrawal, Trump is almost fore ordained to win the plurality of votes in any primary. With almost all the big states having primaries that do not permit any delegates to candidates who do not reach a threshold of 20% of the vote. It looks like Trump would gather almost all the delegates in those states. As polls stand right now it is possible that Carson, Rubio and Cruz could gather a few delegates but insubstantial compared to Trump. There are 34 or so primary states and they are mostly the big states. The non primary or caucus states are where the establishment had a better hand but those are the very states that more conservative republicans have the better hand. Stopping Trump is going to be almost impossible if he continues to lead the field in popularity.

McCain & Romney were the most electable within REPUBLICANS running with them. Their problem was they did not pull in many democrats.

When your candidate crosses into double digits then we can talk. Until then you are just a sore loser.

You figured them out exactly right. They are in serious panic, and more importantly in denial.
