FULL TITLE: BOOM ! Trump Dominates Amid Republican Primary Voters – CBS Poll: Trump Is “The Most Electable” Candidate…

CBS has another National Poll reflecting Donald Trump with a substantive lead over the entire field of GOP candidates (Full Poll pdf below). However, beyond the leading support numbers Republican Primary Voters were asked this question:

Q17. Regardless of how you intend to vote in 2016, which one of these Republican presidential candidates do you think has the best chance of winning the general election in November 2016?

( FULL POLL DATA ) ( FULL POLL DATA )

BOOM !! That essential and critical question/answer destroys the GOPe (establishment) talking point of “electability“. By a stunning margin the Republican Primary Voter view Donald Trump as the best candidate to win in 2016. Stick that in your pipe George Will and Karl Rove!

The more general question of who do you support in the primary reveals a rather interesting dynamic when contrast against the question above.

Less people think Ben Carson can win in November of 2016 than currently support him in the primary. (This shows a VERY weak quishy support base) More people think Rubio, Bush and Fiorina could win in November 2016 than currently support them in the primary. (The “Hold Your Nose” Coalition) However, a significant number think Donald Trump is uniquely positioned to win in the general election November ’16, BEYOND their primary support. (The “Glorious Bastard/Vulgarian” *Coalition) {{ *Note* That’s me raising my hand and waving from the back of the room }}

Here’s the customary “who do you support” question responses:

As abrasive as he is, Trump is by far the best choice for a few reasons:

1)He owes nothing, I say again nothing, to any special interest group nor will he since he is self-funded

2)Trump has the organizational skills and contacts to assemble a team that can turn America around on any issue--from a failed immigration policy to bringing back jobs from offshore

3)Trump is not afraid to confront the PC police, the whiners and Communists who infest every level of American society

We have had a bellyfull of 'professional' politicians who have made a career of laying in the public trough sideways and lapping up our hard-earned money as they make themselves wealthy by acting on inside information and creating legislation that is of personal benefit to them.

It's time to elect someone who has actually succeeded in the private sector.

Seems to me last go round the actions of some Republican voters managed to give us the worst lying liberal bottom feeder in history. Frankly Scarlett, there are at least a half dozen of the present ‘republican’ candidates that qualify for the title lying liberal bottom feeder, and IMHO Trump is not one of them.

You better come up with a pot load of proof gathered in the last year not five or ten years past.

At one point you’ve got to ask yourself if I’m not part of the solution, am I part of the problem?

There is another electability related article on TheConservativeTreeHouse that is a good read titled ‘Ted Cruz - The Reality of The Situation’. Cruz supporters won’t like it because it discusses Cruz’s slim to none chance to win the general election. Winning the general election should be a concern of every primary voter. Trump has crossover support. No other candidate has that. THAT is a big reason Trump can win. I don’t see any candidate winning the general if the can’t appeal to some Independents and fed up Democrats.

Trump channels Nixon’s “Silent Majority” theme and Reagan’s theme of America’s greatness. Both themes are themes of electability.

I don’t support Trump, but can see why he runs strong in less conservative states on those themes.

Despite the fact that FR now apparently supports normalizing relations with Cuba and propping up the Castro boys for a few more years. Supports reliable fuel standards and ethanol subsidies. Supports seizing private property so another private entity can make money off of it etc etc etc.

I still do not and will never ever support the things the rest of you fear even looking into.

So if Trump is the nominee you won’t vote for him in 2016?
Brilliant strategy-— count one more vote for a pure leftist DemoRat then....

As much as I like Ted Cruz - and cringe at a Trump presidency I tend to agree that Trump is our only chance to out glitz a ticket of Biden/Warren. Trump/Cruz could do it. I could see myself voting for trump ONLY if he brings Cruz as vp. Cruz would do a good job of mentoring Trump on conservatism and Christian values.

We all here have to realize the goal in any election is to defeat the opposition. We have to play to win, even if that means giving up on some things. I would cringe voting for Trump, and I would pray he listens to Cruz.

How so?

Do you always support who you think will eventually win?

I always thought Romney would win the nomination, but never supported him.

I love me some Cruz but if he doesn’t get the nomination I’m not gonna hissy fit and withhold my vote in 2016. How do you think we got Obama now Einstein.

Interesting how the media NEVER brings up that what happened to Cochran is the tipping point for the total disgust Constitutional Conservatives have for the party elite. We gave them one more chance, and they found a way to be even more disgusting in DC.

The others (even Cruz) are being really establishment, especially on the Mideast-regime change mess that the US caused.

It would be tough for them to bring Trump down on a scandal. Why? He's never campaigned and lied and "compromised" his principles away.

No one at Free Republic supported Romney...that was also Jim Robinson’s stance! I’d say things are a lot different around here about supporting Trump! Just sayin. Go Trump Go!

Eh? I'm not sure who this "you" is you're referring to. You appear to be painting with a rather broad brush.

Gosh, I am sorry to hear that.
But I am sure you will be happy after the GOPe once again picks their candidate, because it will not be Trump.
Or Carson.
Or Cruz.
