While the geopolitical posturing between the US and China over the South China Seas is nothing new, the latest and most dramatic installment started just one month ago, when as part of its celebration to commemorate the successful victory over Japan in World War II, China sailed five warships to the Bering Sea, off the coast of Alaska, just as Obama was quite literally taking selfies of himself a few hundred miles away.

China's response was quick, clear and unequivocal:
"We will never allow any country to violate China's territorial waters and airspace in the Spratly Islands, in the name of protecting freedom of navigation and overflight," Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying told a regular news briefing.
"We urge the related parties not to take any provocative actions, and genuinely take a responsible stance on regional peace and stability," Hua said in response to a question about possible U.S. patrols.

America shouldn’t tolerate Chinese goods in its ports.
I think this is a tricky situation but don’t know enough to give any kind of opinion.
For the next year and a half (at least) the US can be had. Over and over.
Its gonna be a bumpy ride.
The Chinese tried, very early on, even before the 9/11 crisis, to roll President George W. Bush.
On April 1, 2001, the Hainan Island incident occurred when a mid-air collision between a United States Navy EP-3E ARIES II signals intelligence aircraft and a People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) J-8II interceptor fighter jet resulted in an international dispute between the United States of America and the People’s Republic of China.
The EP-3 was operating about 70 miles (110 km) away from the PRC island province of Hainan, and about 100 miles (160 km) away from the Chinese military installation in the Paracel Islands, when it was intercepted by two J-8 fighters. A collision between the EP-3 and one of the J-8s caused the death of a PRC pilot, and the EP-3 was forced to make an emergency landing on Hainan. The 24 crew members were detained and interrogated by the Chinese authorities until a statement was delivered by United States government regarding the incident. The exact phrasing of this document was intentionally ambiguous and allowed both countries to save face while defusing a potentially volatile situation between militarily strong regional states.
Reposition to 2015. Would the Current Occupant make the least move to assert the right of free passage across international waters of the South China Sea? Or will he cave in to the bogus assertion that dredging sea floor to build an artificial island on existing coral reefs, and occupying the new landform, constitutes an extension of Chinese territorial rights?
Send in the food stamp frigates!
Deploy the Social Security Disability destroyers!
Hi yankee....hahah....You no worry...You go shop for Chinese trinket and yum yum doggy treat. You get get get good China deal. Yankee be happy proud!!..Haha...Bye bye yankee!
If some country wants to take a bite out of America’s dominance, now’s the time.
Luckily, Obama’s Navy — smaller than what we had in 1917 — will win the day. /S
This not Syria is where world war 3 will start. Chinese public opinion is unanimous that these reefs belong to China for historical reasons.
Neither side can back down.
Luckily for us the Executive anus can take the pounding.
Obama: Okay, Boss.....................
Wait until they build an new island 13 miles off the coast of Los Angeles.
Don’t give ‘em ideas...
