Green Reverse: Denmark Abandons Climate Change Targets, Scraps Electric Car Subsidies

Denmark is slowly retreating from some of its most ambitious, self-regarding climate initiatives. In an unforeseen attack of common sense, the government is readying to end its generous tax breaks for citizens who buy low-carbon vehicles because of the expense imposed on the public purse.
This will triple the retail price of electric cars like the popular Tesla (Model X pictured above) and remove their competitive price advantage against standard fossil fuel-powered models.
A draft budget proposed last week would extend an existing 180 per cent automobile tax to electric vehicles and place their pricing alongside all other standard competitors.

On a related note:
Denmark, the worlds most wind-intensive nation, with more than 6,000 turbines generating 19% of its electricity, has yet to close a single fossil-fuel plant. It requires 50% more coal-generated electricity to cover wind powers unpredictability, and pollution and carbon dioxide emissions have risen (by 36% in 2006 alone).
Wind power is a complete disaster

Well, goes to show, in our rush to “green” this and that, that we find unintended consequences of trying to go green and go to electric cars.
Some enviro types are surprised to learn that electric cars can actually lead to more greenhouse gases and more fossil fuel use. The reason is, that in many places, the electricity needed to recharge your electric car will come from a coal fired power plant.

More and more, its clear that “Green” energy is simply a scam that made some people very rich (AlGore) for doing nothing productive. In fact, for wasting money.

Which, funny enough, was the point Conservatives were making to the Greenies about these “electric cars” from the start.

The relative cost of devices, cars and the like, reflects pretty closely the total assets used in manufacture, use, and disposal and, concomitantly the amount of pollution and yes, CO2 production involved. Electric cars are thus responsible for more asset use and pollution than their mineral fuel counterparts in approximately the ratio of the greater cost of the electrics as opposed to the cost of the gasoline cars.
The electric are more acceptable to the unconnected greenies because the majority of the electric car pollution is produced out of sight and somewhere else.

I've been saying for a long time that a person's "carbon footprint" is directly proportional to the sum of the money they earn and spend.
If greenies were sincere, they would earn and spend as little as possible.

The reason is, that in many places, the electricity needed to recharge your electric car will come from a coal fired power plant. What enviro weenies don't know, is that electric cars do produce pollutants not only at the source of electricity generation, but also at the electric vehicle.
They emit ozone during use, and at a greater extent while being charged. Ozone damages the body's cells and tissues. The laugh will be on them when lawsuits start flying due to health complications. So much for being "green". Recommendations from manufacturers is to charge at night to diminish the effects of ozone interacting with sunlight.

I am not sure the Ozone will be produced in all that great a quantity by an electric car, as the Ozone is produced mainly by electricity or radiation ionizing the air so that Oxygen breaks into free radicals. I don’t believe that the cars actually spark that much.
