In an interview with Fox News on Wednesday, Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina chastised the Obama administration, calling its response, or lack thereof, to Russian aggression in Syria, “weak” and willfully naïve. “We must be prepared to use force,” declared Fiorina in a hawkish response to Russian airstrikes in the central city of Homs this week that have transformed the geopolitical calculus in the region. U.S. Pentagon officials insist that the Russian aerial assault is targeting primarily non-ISIS combatants, including the American-backed moderate Syrian opposition. “I can absolutely confirm to you that they were strikes against our Free Syrian Army recruits that have been armed and trained by the CIA, because we have communications with people there, said Sen. John McCain, head of the Senate Armed Services Committee.

Fiorina continued to criticize Sec. John Kerry and his cadre of submissives as “unbelievably weak,” sternly demanding a “no-fly zone between the Turkish and Syrian border” and “no-fly zone under anti-Assad rebel forces we support.” Citing specific strategy points, Fiorina deconstructed the deteriorating situation on the ground and urged the administration to “pull together our Sunni Arab allies.” She attributed Putin’s audacious display of hostility as a “Russian aggressor that feels very confident” to the Obama administration’s failure to intervene in Ukraine when Russia waltzed into the Crimea without a single red light. “We must make it crystal clear to Russia that they do not get to move into the Middle East and become the dominant outside power,” Fiorina said with a certitude of a commander-in-chief.
