Assad is, realistically, the best option for Syria. (Just as keeping Hussein was the best option in Iraq, sigh.) I’m cheering the Russians on this one.

IMO, Obama and some of the world (Iran, maybe - maybe Iraq) want destabilization among traditional Muslim ruled governments that cooperate to a fashion with the rest of the Western world. Egypt, Libya - now Syria. Later Jordan, and the Gulf states.
The goal is complete destabilization of the entire area and the rise of a jihadist Muslim lawless collective that will wreak havoc on this world the likes of which it has never seen.
We have no business in screwing with Russia over this. We should be turning it all into glass.
If we had a real media they would ask why Kerry thinks overthrowing Assad will work out any better than overthrowing Khadaffy. We were told there were “moderates” there too.
Ditto here. If the Russians want to kill Muslims in the Middle East, I don’t see a problem. The US is nuts thinking any of these countries can be made into civilized nations as long as Muslims run the place. The only way peace was achieved was by means of strong-arm dictators.
