An online petition has gathered more than 1,300 signatures on behalf of a popular Virginia high school teacher who was kicked out of the classroom earlier this month for using a racial slur.
The petition claims history teacher Lynne Pierce, who is white, did nothing wrong when she uttered the “N-word” during a discussion with her students at Heritage High School in Newport News about racism, derogatory terms and the nickname of the Washington Redskins. Heritage is 90 percent black.

We’re all criminals now....I’ll bet 90% of the population has said that word at some time....and not always in a bad way.

It’s more amazing that she had no clue it would be a problem.
Unless she is a lesbian and thought that would trump the racism charge. That won’t work at a black school.
Sounds to me that she’s of the liberal persuasion in formulating that question to answer the student’s question.
Perhaps she felt that since she was so progressive and questioning she was inured from the ill will of cries of ‘racism’......

Man, forty years ago, we had better high school discussion topics than NFL football or the Redskins. It’s like some idiots walk around with a 1,000 item list of things to worry about. They need to go haul hay in 95-degree temperature or dig some ditch in Texas....get this worry-list out of their head.
This woman violated a taboo. This requires an exorcism at the least. Call a shaman to cleanse the area.

Teacher with forty years tenure does not know she has to walk on eggshells? She actually uttered one of the forbidden words in a public school?

That is some arrogance and ego on her part if she truly believed that not one of her “students”, black or white, would rat her out for that.

So it is okay for liberals to use the n word but not conservatives?

Tell me if I’ve got this right. She was equating “Redskins” with “nigger,” in her support of forcing the Redskins to change their name, and she got smacked with her own bully pulpit? Irony is ironic!
If she is suspended with pay....I think I have found a way for some “free” vacation time.
