THE MYSTERY OF POPE FRANCIS: WAS THERE A VATICAN COUP?

One thing that that has puzzled a lot of people since the selection of Pope Francis two years ago is how a left-leaning Pope could succeed two very serious conservative PopesJohn Paul II and Benedict XVIwho you would have thought had stacked the ranks of the Cardinals with clergy that would perpetuate their theological and philosophical outlook. Was Benedict hounded out of office by some kind of internal Vatican scandal perhaps? Was there some ecclesiastical version of a coup?
There’s no evidence that I’m aware ofuntil now. Three days ago the National Catholic Register ran a very curious article about the contents of a newly published authorized biography of retired Belgian cardinal Godfried Danneels. The Register article reports:
Further serious concerns are being raised about Cardinal Godfried Danneels, one of the papal delegates chosen to attend the upcoming Ordinary Synod on the Family, after the archbishop emeritus of Brussels confessed this week to being part of a radical “mafia” reformist group opposed to Benedict XVI. . .
At the launch of the book in Brussels this week, the cardinal said he was part of a secret club of cardinals opposed to Pope Benedict XVI.
He called it a “mafia” club that bore the name of St. Gallen. The group wanted a drastic reform of the Church, to make it “much more modern”, and for Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio to head it. The group, which also comprised Cardinal Walter Kasper and the late Jesuit Cardinal Carlo Maria Martini, has been documented in Austen Ivereigh’s biography of Pope Francis, The Great Reformer.
Over at The American Conservative, Rod Dreher has gone to the trouble of translating an Italian report that is even more curious:
The Italian Vaticanist Marco Tosatti writes (in Italian; Ive modified the Google translation):
The election of Jorge Bergoglio was the result of secret meetings that cardinals and bishops, organized by Carlo Maria Martini, held for years in St. Gallen, Switzerland. This, according to Jürgen Mettepenningen et Karim Schelkens, authors of a newly published biography of the Belgian Cardinal Godfried Danneels, who calls the group of cardinals and bishops a Mafia club.
Danneels according to the authors, worked for years to prepare for the election of Pope Francis, which took place in 2013. Danneels, moreover, in a video recorded during the presentation of the book in Brussels, admits that he was part of a secret club of cardinals who opposed Joseph Ratzinger. Laughing, he calls it a Mafia club that bore the name of St. Gallen.
The group wanted a drastic reform of the Church, much more modern and current, with Jorge Bergoglio, Pope Francis, as its head. They got what they wanted. Besides Danneels and Martini, the group according to the book were part of the Dutch bishop Adriaan Van Luyn, the German cardinal Walter Kasper and Karl Lehman, the Italian Cardinal Achille Silvestrini and British Basil Hume, among others.
I underscore that this is not some secretly sourced claim, but its from an advance copy of Cardinal Danneels official biography, approved by himself.
This is the first confirmation of rumors that had been going around for years about Benedict being thwarted by a liberal conspiracy, one that eventually forced him out. These men Danneels, Van Luyn, Kasper, Lehman, and Hume, at least all preside over dying churches. And they killed the Benedict papacy.
This might explain a few things. . .

That’s the problem. No Pope will act to rid the clergy of these vermin. They should be subject to local civil law and sent to jail. Just defrocking or reassignment is not enough. Whoever is Pope needs to have a set of balls.

Aside from the title Pope Emeritus, the situation was exactly as it is now, and was recorded that way in the history books. Celestine V resigned by his own design and a conclave began on 23 December 1294, ten days after his resignation. Benedetto Caetani was elected in his place as pope, taking the name Boniface VIII. Celestine V attempted to retire to his old life of solitude and was an ex-Pope for 2 years during Pope Boniface VIII’s papacy, where he was attended by two monks of his order, until he died at the age of 81 in 1296.
If Francis is an illegitimate Pope because Benedict is still alive, then so was Boniface VIII.

I don’t buy conspiracy theories. I don’t see a whisp of evidence that Frankie’s not really the legitimate Pope or that any dark blackmail was going on. As you pointed out there was precedent for resignation/abdication.
But I’m fine with calling the jerk an “Antipope” anyway. ;d

I read his books, which I consider prophetic, a long time ago - thanks for the reminder to reread them.

Fr. Malachi Martin on Poisoned Popes & Cardinal Siri Malachi Martin died in 1998 - he was brilliant. Former Jesuit, spoke 14 languages, professor, 3 PhDs, exorcist, author, etc.
He was also a Vatican insider and adviser to 3 popes.
He knew what was occurring, and what was coming, and he warned the world.

Paving the way for the Antichrist..... I posted this thread (as an editorial, not news, by Geoffrey Grider):
The Worship Of Pope Francis Proves People Are Ready To Receive Antichrist
I immediately generated about 25 comments in the span of a couple of minutes, and was then pulled, with the cryptic reason for so being "Jack Chick" - that was all the explanation given.
I had to look that name up, and even when I did some research on who this man was, it made absolutely zero sense to tie that man of decades ago from this editorial published 2 days ago. The website is current, deals with prophetic news and events, and comments on politics, foreign affair, economics, cultural trends (all this sound familiar?), and does so on a Biblical basis that looks for evidence of current events tying into the prophetic Scriptures.
Even some at FR wish to be willfully blind to the stark and horrifying reality that is surrounding us. These are dark forces outlined in Ephesians. Very dark forces, and we are witnessing prophecy unfold before our eyes.

I think BXVI would have resigned for only one reason: because he felt that his doing so was for the good of the Church and would protect the Church.
I don’t know what they did to threaten him, but he was certainly threatened. His health wasn’t bad, aside from the usual frailty of age. An Italian who managed to have a private interview with him in his “prison” on the Vatican grounds a couple of weeks ago said that he was frail, thin, and can only walk with a walker, but that his mind is clear and unchanged.
Don’t forget that in the months before, there had been the Vatileaks scandal where his butler, among others, had been filtering out private letters written by BXVI in connection with sensitive Church investigations of financial and moral corruption, particularly homosexuality in the hierarchy. This was at the same time that the Pope received the massive report on corruption, which he is said to have been so shocked by reading (because it detailed not only the doings of some powerful people by the collusion of so many others in covering it up and the existence of organized conspiracies) that he was massively weakened, even physically, by his shock and grief.
Personally, I think some of it had to do with Fr. Maciel, the Mexican founder of the Legion of Christ. He was a one-man festival of evil, but he had been protected for years, even by JPII - although in the latter case, it was because the Pope liked the orthodox order, the Legionaries of Christ, that Maciel had founded before he was seized by Satan. This investigation had already begun at the time of he death of JPII, and one of the very first things BXVI did upon taking office was to remove Maciel from the priesthood and basically send him to a monastic prison, where he died not long afterwards. But the investigation continued, leading into other areas, and I think it was something that happened in connection with these investigations that made this elderly group of corrupt leftist cardinals desperate enough to take action and do something to force out BXVI.

Paul VI was a Mason who destroyed the mass and my guess is that Masonic Cardinals, such as Danneels, elected Pope Francis.Ya can't have a conspiracy without the Masons!

I typed a lower case m. My browser auto-correct capitalizes Marxist, and I didn’t go back and change it.
To make it clear, I despise all Marxists as well as francis, who is one.

I don’t have any problem with rank-and-file Catholics. They’re my brothers and sisters in CHRIST. I find the militant ones to be amusing, and sometimes annoying, but I’m not attacking them personally, I’m disputing their goofy doctrines.

Ah, thank you. So you admit that the whole cardinal election thing is a sham — a device of MEN, not of the Holy Spirit. And therefore I needn’t take anything that issues forth from the pie-hole below that silly hat as a proclamation of GOD on par with His Holy Scripture! Especially from the pie-hole of a commie pervert-enabler like francis.
The day is starting off right!
