Republican leaders, including House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy, of Bakersfield, are calling for the first time to give legal status to millions of undocumented immigrants living in the United States.
The GOP leadership is in the process of drafting principles on immigration reform and will soon release a document that outlines the party's position on the politically sensitive and volatile issue.
In a Tuesday evening interview with Eyewitness News, McCarthy said he is in favor of granting legal status to those undocumented immigrants who qualify.
"The principles aren't written yet, but in my personal belief, I think it'll go with legal status that will allow you to work and pay taxes," said McCarthy.
Legal status would protect people from deportation.

We all know Kevin McCarthy is Boehner without the boozy crying jags. He’s a little better but not much. Don’t expect him to go to war with the Dems and Obama. He and Eric Cantor were joined at the hip. Remember the “young guns”?

I love Loui. He was being mentioned at a huge mens club today where I go. There was absolute jubilation at Boehner getting gone. There is fear that he has agreed to fund the baby killing and selling of baby organs to be voted on next week. He is a traitor to conservatism and a funder of obamacare 4 damned times, unconstitutional dictatorial amnesty once and now baby killing. That is his legacy. I hope he goes to HELL.
