With about 12 months left after Boner resigns, the Pubbies might be best served with electing an “outsider” to be Speaker. Sarah Palin, maybe? Allen West would be cool, too.
Several others have the chops to be Speaker and I’d be partial to Donald Rumsfeld (an economic compatriot to Trump).
As I said, it’s only a 12-18 month gig but would be fully appropriate in today’s “shunting” of insiders.
Boehner and McConnell both basically said ‘Give us a majority and we will show we CAN lead this time [compared to the early 2000 years of Frist, Lott and Hastert].’
They got their majorities AND HAVE BEEN BLOWING IT ever since.
They were NOT elected to compromise and give in to Obama on everything.

McConnell likely will be a one-term Majority Leader. He will likely cause the Senate to flip back to the Democrats. The Pubbies are defending some 24 seats while the Dems are defending about 6.

I’m not a Constitutional scholar, but couldn’t he hold both offices concurrently? The Constitution gives VP Cruz the top Senate job but does not disqualify him from the top House job.

This is the meme to prevent a conservative getting the gavel. IMO, Boehner quit because he doesn’t want to carry the kenyan’s water any longer. This year will be bloodbath on the budget, TPP, etc.
In a statement released today Boehner says “I am resigning to spend more time with my bartender”
CNBC is going to break out in a massive joint crying session.
