Only a day after Donald Trump announced that he was boycotting Fox News and after Fox News announced they had cancelled him first the network has announced that they will enter talks with Trump to discuss his concerns.
Below is the full statement, provided to Mediaite by a Fox News spokesperson:
Fox News Chairman & CEO Roger Ailes and Donald Trump spoke this morning and plan to have a meeting next week to discuss their differences of opinion regarding Foxs coverage of Mr. Trumps presidential campaign. Ailes will be joined by senior Fox editorial executives. Mr. Trump believes he has been treated unfairly in certain instances. FOX News has held every candidate in this race to the highest journalistic standards throughout our coverage. We believe a candid meeting about our differences is required and that any misunderstandings can be handled without compromising those standards.

I should have said that better.
I think he can prove himself before election. His recent ‘comming out’ on the 2A with that position paper was pretty specific and left him little wiggle room, none actually.
That said, those too were just words. But those words came at a personal and vote cost. He basically told the Bloomberg moderates to get stuffed.
More of that IMO will make people rethink opposing him because there’s something at least tangible there.
For me personally he has a -long- way to go but time will tell.

That is true, but Trump has to be prepared for the games of the MSM. The third debate will be critical for him. People want to see some substance.

And trump has proved we could put plate-throwing monkey in the mix and it would apparently have the same effect.
That’s all fun good times but the problem is we eventually have to nominate a candidate who isn’t going to continue to look and act like a plate-throwing monkey to win the general.
To: Norm Lenhart
Thank you Norm.
Trump has several good points. Immigration is one. Fighting back is one. Not taking GOP crap is one.
I appreciate you mentioning some things you agree with him on. I bet you like his stance on the Second Amendment too. Next week I think you'll find some things to like about his tax policy.
I'm pretty sure you agree with him that the EPA and Department of Education need to be looked at real hard, to see if we need them any longer. He appears to be thinking we don't.
But if we forget that he also has far from conservative positions like his healthcare nonsense, we are exactly no different than Obamazombies standing at the styrofoam greek pillars experiencing religious epiphany.
Norm, you lose me here. It's not because your words wouldn't move me if they were true, but Norm, they aren't true.
Obamacare is unquestionably designed to wind up with a single payer government run plan. I think I'm safe in saying that's close to universally our perception of Obamacare.
By contrast, Trump advocates a private sector replacement, with the government out of it. He wants to see state lines lowered so insurance companies can compete nationwide. He views that to result in competitively priced policies, and a variety of new products. Isn't that a healthy approach? That isn't the same as Obamacare. It's diametrically opposed to Obamacare. One views the government to be the driver, and the other envisions the government out of health care.
The one problem as I see it is the 45 million currently uninsured. Isn't it interesting that 45 million was the reason for Obamacare, and yet there they are still uncovered?
Trump wants to see these folks covered. That will trouble Conservatives unless this can grasp this point. The uninsured were always covered by the federal government if they presented to an emergency room and couldn't pay their bill.
There must be a better way to cover these people. Perhaps high deductable plans could be offered with lower premiums, as this would limit any government exposure to $10,000 or some such.
Players from the private sector, health care providers, and insurance companies will have to sit down and come up with a fix. That could wind up being a lot better than what was taking place before Obamacare. It could save the federal government a lot of money even if it did wind up having to pay that deductable in the end. The insurance companies would pick up the rest.
We have to remember he isnt Reagan. He does not have super powers and if and likely when he wins, it is not going to be what all this adoration for him projects. Thats us telling ourselves things he is that he flatly told us he isnt.
Norm, nobody is going to wind up being Reagan. We can hope for the best and hold Trump to his word as best we can. Tell me Norm, do you think Bush was the next Reagan? I don't believe you think he was. He screwed us too. Trump will do some things we don't like. I guarantee it. He will also do some things we like very much. Did Bush do a lot of things we liked very much? I appreciated his Iraq War efforts. Many Conservatives don't. You set that aside, Bush was a disaster.
Will Trump wind up being a disaster? I dont' believe that for a moment. He's talking about paying down the debt. None of the others talk of that. They talk about reducing spending. He's talking about rebuilding the miliary and addressing our infrastructure. This is done by increased revenues from putting people back to work and spending less on government support to the non-working segment of our populace.
Trump won't be pefect. It would be childish to think so. None the less I think the guy will be very good for the nation overall.
Sure hes better than anyone but Cruz running. Look at who is running. Leftists. Hard Leftists. Of course he looks great. Of course his positions are mostly better.
This is true, and isn't that what our goal is after all.
Some are actually worse. And we are utter fools if we do not remember that.
I believe you are correct here.
I do like Cruz with some exceptions. I would like to see a Trump/Cruz 2016 ticket. Cruz could help Trump make fewer mistakes.
Make no mistake about it though, Trump will also help Cruz not to make them. When it comes to our economy and gettig thing back on trask as a nation, Trump is very qualified. I look forward to seeing what they can do together for this nation.

Okay, where are the pinheads who were here yesterday saying Trump was acting like a child? He was acting like a spoiled child, and Fox today is acting like an over-indulgent parent who is giving in to the child's tantrums, and thus encouraging more of the same behavior.
Neither will win in the long run.

Its like watching a scripted reality show.Trump is an expert on that. Whether Fox wanted it or not, Trump has made it about social media right and wrong. He's skilled at it for an old man. I think you're seeing what the culture has become and your discomfort is about not being a part of it. There are major shifts going on and they don't involve a renewed interest in The Federalist Papers.

“I have thought from the beginning of his campaign, that Trump’s using an awfully lot of ole Brer Rabbit as a role model.
Long story, short...I think Trump’s playing Brer Fox like a Stradivarius. “
LOL great post! I have often used Br’er Fox to describe political situations.
Trump is so far ahead of ALL these mopes that it is laughable.

Actual Shep exposed his employer yesterday. He announce that the two front runners Trump and Carly were appearing in NC (every show up to him had been pushing Carly)
He then turned it over to Campaign Carl who pointed out Trump in #1 and Carson #2. Everyone else in single digits. Shep then pointed out how low Carly was polling with that quirky smirk.
He hadn’t done anything to break his bosses edit but he sure made the point.
If Shep wasn’t happy think of some of the others!

Completely true. He said it. Severely hurt his personal relationship with Tip and a lot of the Dems IIRC.

Well, I’m not going to put the perception down. It may remind us of a silly reality show script.
I don’t think it’s that un-reasoned when you have a guy upset at you that gave you the highest ratings you’ve ever had.

What exactly did he contribute to the last debates that had even an ounce of substance? You must be nuts. When did Trump have much of a chance since the monitors did not ask relative question and the other candidates had mouths that wreaked crap.
To: stephenjohnbanker
I agree with your take on it.
At the time I winced. I didn’t want to see him grand amnesty, but you hope you’re wrong and for the best as well.
As you state, the amnesty part they enforced.
The new tougher laws, none of it...

While I agree that Kelly and Wallace went over the line during the debates as to Trump, actually I found her most absurd question to be about God directed to Cruz.

I’ve watched Fox News since before the 2000 election - and nothing else, except by accident (or for the debates...I held my nose to watch CNN last week). I wouldn’t have been watching it for more than 15 years if I didn’t generally like it.
But that has now changed. I find Fox’s coverage of the Republican primaries to be HIGHLY BIASED - against Donald Trump and, to a lesser extent, Ted Cruz. Fox has become completely establishment-oriented, and is FAR from balanced.
This had better stop, or I will simply get rid of it. If I wanted what they’re giving me now, I’d have never started watching them in the first place.
Enough is enough!
