Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin has concluded he no longer has a path to the Republican presidential nomination and plans to drop out of the 2016 campaign, according to three Republicans familiar with his decision, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Mr. Walker called a news conference in Madison at 6 p.m. Eastern time.

They will NEVER find anything like that on Ted Cruz.

I decided to listen to some of his speeches, and I was completely perplexed at what on Earth was so exciting about the guy. I didn’t feel any buzz at all.

True. But lately, the tallest ones have been geeks...like the present occupant of the White House.

Agreed on your state choices.

I still the that Kasich or Rubio might make it to the top spot. Will be interesting to see where the money men start placing their support.

“Walker has said for the past few days that Fiorina was the predetermined winner no matter what happened. I agree with him. He’s a very smart man. Trump basically said the same thing”

The DNC would like Fiorina since her record at HP gives them so much ammo.

At this point of watching the team of Boner-McSurrender habitually stab the Repub Base in the back and who might as well admit to be working directly for Obama, I have to wonder if the GOPe wants Fiorina also, for the same reasons the DNC wants her....to lose to the Dem.

I no longer believe the DNC and GOPe are philosophically different.

While he was not my candidate, I think Walker is basically a nice guy, and would have been an OK president. Since we are currently suffering under an awful president, OK would be a vast improvement.

Right you are. I like debates and even some serious scrabbling about candidates and their views. When it gets to the “you’re evil, stupid and hopeless” vs. “No, YOU’RE dumb, GOPe and a jackass” stage, I lose all interest in the conversation.

Restraint is an unfashionable virtue.

Walker showed too much, Trump may possibly show too little.

I agree. It’s sad because he is or was one of the better candidates.

Don’t really know what happened to him and why a Carly Fiorina could be polling higher.

Heraldo celebrating on Fox News. FU, Jerry.

I don’t even want to read the comments from the Trumpbots, I’m sure they’re disgusting.

It’s a shame. But there are still other good candidates.

I do admire CW for sticking up for her candidates just like I admire 2DV for posting about Sen. Cruz.

But, as a point of constructive criticism, she has a habit of being in your face to anyone who disagrees. I think that’s why there’s the push back.

I’m really sorry Gov. Walker dropped out. He would have had to do far more to convince me he wasn’t a CoC guy on immigration, but I hadn’t closed the door to being convinced (unlike Rubio where he will always be an amnesty traitor to me).

That said, when the race went wonky in 2012 and everybody got their 15 minutes of fame, Pawlenty regretted bailing so soon. And of course, McCain in the hole in 2008. I think the dynamics of this race are still fluid enough that Gov. Walker will regret leaving so soon.

The last CNN poll didn’t do Walker any favor since it gave him Zero “0” support.

It wasn’t THAT long ago that most Republicans and conservatives were braying for a successful governor, someone with executive experience. With Perry and Walker out, and Jindal assigned to the kids’ card table, I guess it wasn’t that big a deal, or at least it isn’t any more. (Gilmore and Pataki don’t count).

The primaries are still months away.

Things may be different in the general election (still over a year down the road).

Swing voters don't vote based on ideology and may be more swayed by experience.

Of course, it's also possible that a charismatic outsider can draw a lot of non-voters into the polling places, but candidates whose appeal is primary ideological tend to do better in the primaries than in general elections.

NOPE. And it makes them crazy.

Don’t think Trump would consider that kind of offense as OK for his ticket mate, either.

And there you - voila! - have it, Trump/Cruz 2016!!

I haven’t heard about Rubio’s adultery. He did lie and deceive voters regarding amnesty. After he won election, he reversed his position and started fighting for amnesty - a devious man.

Gov. Scott Walker of Wisconsin has concluded he no longer has a path to the Republican presidential nomination...

He quickly discovered the disconnect between the well-moneyed business interests and hard-working voters- can’t please one without pissing off the other. I will credit him with understanding that illegal immigration was the most important issue of this election cycle, which birthed his "protect the American worker" theme and saw his meteoric rise to the top of the polls.

I have not read this about Rubio. I’m hoping this is just political gossip and not anything of substance.

I didn’t hear or read anything about that.

I sort of agree with your premise.

I have to hurry out on an errand.
