Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” host Chuck Todd asked Republican front-runner Donald Trump, “Can you imagine supporting or being comfortable if a Muslim ever became president of the United States?”
Trump said, “I can say it’s something that at some point could happen. We’ll see. I mean you know at some point it could happen. Would I be comfortable? I don’t know if we have to address it right now but I think it’s certainly something that could happen.”
Talking over Todd he added, “Some people have said it already happened, frankly, but, of course, you wouldn’t agree with that.”
Todd said, “But let’s get to that. Why won’t you concede that the president is a Christian and that the president was born in the United States?”
Trump said, “Because I don’t talk about people’s faith. now, in all fairness he said he was a Christian. He attended the church of Reverend Wright and so, you know, I’m willing to take him at his word for that. I have no problem with that.”

No, he specifically didn’t follow George’s lead there. He didn’t accept George’s correction but instead explained what he actually meant.
I guess I’m not quite sure how pointing out your misunderstanding of the video amounts to “protecting” Obama.

But I get it — you’re all fired up about Obama being a Muslim and you want this video to be the big gotcha moment that proves the point. So you’re seeing what you want to see.

Listen again to the video. He stutters after George says Christian Faith and then says “ my Christian faith” Video is on YouTube for your viewing. He did not correct himself until AFTER he was corrected by buddy George.
Yeah, exactly. Steph offers a correction which Obama begins to accept, but then Obama realizes that Steph has missed his point and that the correction is off target, so he switches to explaining what he meant. He does not accept Steph’s correction because the issue isn’t that he misspoke. His meaning was fine but did require an understanding of context to be clear. His clarification then made the meaning explicit.

Not an excuse. I expect that when addressing children and teens (when they are not your own) your words should be carefully chosen. I would not support him making that statement in that environment, although it reflects my beliefs.
Saw it when it happened and have watched it several times since including today. You will never influence me to disbelieve my own eyes and ears. I have a minor in psychology from time getting my MSN so I am far from stupid. You seemed to be able to read Obama’ s intent from thin air so we will have to agree to disagree.
