Donald Trump unexpectedly announced Friday that he would skip a major Republican gathering to be held later in the day in South Carolina due to an unidentified “significant business transaction.”

Trump was one of 11 GOP presidential candidates slated to speak at the Heritage Action Presidential Forum at an arena in Greenville. The event is co-sponsored by two of the biggest names in South Carolina GOP politics: Gov. Nikki Haley and former Sen. Jim DeMint.

Trump’s campaign said his undisclosed transaction “was expected to close Thursday” but a delay made him unable to attend. “He sends his regrets,” the campaign said in a statement.

No benefit for Trump to attend at all. It was a setup and Bush and Rove are too stupid to keep their donors quiet.

You believe Donald Trump is the only candidate running who has attracted enough attention

You truncated my quote changing its meaning and did not indicate you had shortened my statement. Dot dot dot.

IOW, that was dishonest of you and I regret responding to you today.

Trump should not do any more GOPe forums which are run by Rove and Bush cronies. He needs to keep doing what he’s doing and continue to do big events in front of regular folk.

It will really be funny if all they do is talk about him.

Why isn’t Donald Trump powerful enough to have his business meeting postponed for an hour or two so that he can attend this important Republican event in South Carolina?

Apparently, there is someone even more powerful than Donald Trump.

John Kasich and Mike Huckabee declined invitations to the Heritage Action forum,
while Lindsey Graham, Jim Gilmore and George Pataki didn’t meet the group’s requirement

He's a businessman. He said he had a "significant business transaction" he has to deal with. I'll bet he has a significant business transaction he has to deal with.

I'm no fan of Trump but I see no reason to disbelieve what he says here. None. Zip. Zero. It makes no sense he would bail on this important event if not for a serious valid reason.

He is after all managing a billion dollar business. Quite frankly I've been surprised he's had as much time as he has to campaign.

And I certainly don't begrudge anyone the opportunity to tend to their own business affairs.

I'm not buying his "pressing business" excuse....given that he's got an ego that dwarfs 0baMao's, the reality is that he knows he stepped on his foreskin - again - last night.

Otherwise, there's no way he'd pass another evening under the spotlights.

Rush was just talking about this.

Trump is not bailing to avoid the issue. He has some big business deal that is not closing as quickly as he’d like (most likely his sale of the Miss Universe Pageant) so has to stay back in NY to work on that.

All the media spin is that he’s scared and in hiding.

Nothing dishonest in my post whatsoever. You asked if Trump was the only one attracting enough attention.

I answered that only 2-3 million would have watched without Trump.....that is true. Now are you saying 2-3 million is attention for the rest? Well ok you are right but it is a blimp compared to what Trump brought to the table.

Trump did nothing to answer for last night.

Perhaps they should ask the guy who asked the question to apologize.

If you used your head and prior viewership for debates, you would not need my help. It is as obvious as tying your shoes.

Well there probably is. So what? By honoring his contract deal, that makes him bad?

Yep, that is what happened. Think Nikki Haley. The Confederate flag denier. She is a Rove turd all the way.

My god you are an idiot or a PC libtard. Trump did nothing wrong. He doesn’t have to correct another mans opinion. Obama gives many reasons to believe that he is in fact a muslim. Going the route of McCain correcting and apologizing is weakness and dishonest. McCain got crushed, we want a fighter not a beta male pussy.

Isn’t it time for him to put his campaign above his business? He has to hand it all off before being sworn in, right, so why not get his replacements handling this stuff for him now?

Is he even running any TV ads to counter the assault from Bush and others? If he’s going to be this much of a tightwad and not outspend his opponents at every step, he’s going to lose.
