When asked whether he would vote for a continuing resolution that permits federal funding of Planned Parenthood, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) responded that he would not vote to shut down the government.
The continuing resolution currently in force authorizes funding of most of the federal government through Sept. 30, the last day of fiscal 2015. To fund the government after that date, Congress needs to pass another continuing resolution, which may or may not include language that prohibits federal funds from going to Planned Parenthood.

He has found an excuse....An he’s sticking to it!
That’s Great! So, McCain agrees with Cruz, who also will not shut down the government. They will form a great team to pass a bill to fund it! (sans PP of course).
Does anyone in this country seriously think McCain has a chance to win the nomination?
If so, this country is in worse shape than I thought.
He, like the rest in the Congress, are so full of themselves.
John’s playing for the other side AGAIN.
John, you’re not voting to shut down the government.
The bills fully fund the government.
AGAIN:
THE BILLS FULLY FUND THE GOVERNMENT.
It will be the democrats that are saying “it’s so important to fund Baby Parts R Us that WE will shut down the government if you don’t”.
Ads against him for the 2016 reelection should read “McCain voted to continue funding to baby butchers so they can selling their meat.”
Let me get this straight: Congress approves funding for the government, but not for the non-governmental entity, Planned Parenthood. The President rejects the funding. It is, then, Congress that has “shut down the government.”
You said it first!
Fact... if the House does it’s job McCain gets one choice.
A continuing resolution that defunds Planned Parenthood.
He votes for that, or a government shutdown.
Democrats forced O’care with just 51 votes. Obama switches sides in the WOT with an “executive agreement,” yet republicans who control congress, are unable to strike a single blow at the reprehensible vile blood stained PP murderers.
WHAT THE HELL DO THESE GUYS STAND FOR!?
Bingo.
Government “shutdowns” are conducted at the discretion of the president.
That's what it is too...a pathological fear - an unfounded fear. The shutdown in 95, which still traumatizes Boehner and McConnell - didn't hurt the GOP except in the DC cocktail circuit. The 2013 shut down helped them WIN in 2014. This fear is so irrational. The media has successfully neutered the GOPe.
Why not? The government isn’t good forvanything. The only way we will get less of it these days is to shut it down. Besides, the only thing it will really mean is putting up fences so WWII vets can’t get to their war memorial.
McCain is a joke.
a child is born with no state of mind, blind to the ways of mankind, god is smiling on you but he’s frowning too

it’s all about money, ain’t a damn thing funny
DEFUND Planned Parenthood
But I really don't understand why I don't see more Republicans -- and more presidential candidates -- explaining to the public that: "WE are funding the government, and allowing it to stay open. THE PRESIDENT is using his veto power to deliberately shutdown the government. And HE'S shutting down the government because killing babies is THAT important to him."
It's all on him. They need to say it.
this sickens me my generation does not understand the need to draw a line in the sand with the expectation that it will be crossed. the person shuting down government would be Barak Obbama and as blame shifts to him he would back down but only after trying to blame the republicans. If we had done this earlyer with the budget this country would be beter off.
Looking at the comments and hub-bub over Trump’s town hall question yesterday, you can’t imagine how bad of a shape we are in!!!
Who in Sept 18th, 2001 would have thought we would be expected to defend muslims to the extent the media does today??
