The real story behind Trump's Florida gaming obsession

Jeb Bush was ready to counterpunch at Wednesday night’s debate when asked about Donald Trump’s statement that politicians could be bought. "The one guy that had some special interests that I know of that tried to get me to change my views on something—that was generous and gave me money—was Donald Trump," Bush said. "He wanted casino gambling in Florida."

That’s when Trump cut him off—and failed to tell the truth. “I didn't,” Trump said.

He and his company have repeatedly been on record trying to get casino deals in one form or another in Florida. From hiring lobbyists to taking a former business partner to court, Trump’s interest in getting a piece of Florida’s gaming industry has been documented in news articles from Tallahassee to Miami. Trump’s involvement in expanding Florida gaming—an effort that regularly fails in the state Capitol due to the influence of conservative lawmakers—is well-known among state capital reporters, politicians and lobbyists alike.

From the article, Trump was behind his partner until Bush killed the deal.

But a Bloomberg investigation of the court battle between Trump and a former protégé, published in 2005, demonstrates that Trump did pursue a Florida casino project, and he did abandon it in the face of opposition from Governor Bush after he took office in 1999.

“When Florida Governor Jeb Bush nixed the idea, ‘Trump directed that the effort be terminated entirely,’” read court filings from Richard Fields, Trump’s former business partner.

I would never waste my time debating anything with you.

Because you are not interested in getting to the very bottom of facts, which might knock the bottom out of the damnation you are attempting to level at someone you clearly do not like.

So what was the political process required, or are you continuing to dodge the question with your nose in the air as though just striking a stance is dispositive?

Truth is larger than lies. Aren’t you the truth person? Why this strange balking and strange posturing on your part?

Why? Because you want me to do the research to counter the info I provided. Do your own homework. Asking me to makes you sound like a lazy Progressive shill.

If you are honest you will try to test your own thesis.

I could as easily accuse YOU of laziness, wanting me to do the footwork to knock you down, and till that happens you will crow that your view is the truth. When it should be a pursuit of truth all the time.

Indeed, you are that last person, based on how you have conducted yourself here.

Note that I have only raised questions .. it is you who have gone full throated at something that might not even be backed up in actual fact at the end of the day.

The reckless one here is not I.

So now Trump mania is so strong that you want to ban people for posting the truth about the lies that the Donald tells. Seriously, why are you afraid to see Donald vetted. You should not be so loyal to a candidate that you put your head in the sand and attack anyone who vets them.

Ok Stig, immigration is your issue.
Being a Cruz supporter it’s one of mine as well, and the whole H-1B issue, is a non issue because Cruz only supports it if salary requirements increase. Just like Trump.
However immigration is not my only issue.
I had 3 when the election season started. Abortion, 2nd Amendment, and Immigration.
But I start a debate from the position of Joe 6 pack, with no opinion, and grade from there. I try and see it with a clean set of eyes.
My scoring is based on more than content.
After it’s all over I still like Cruz.
But if I’m a voter hearing Trump for the first time, he didn’t convince Joe 6 pack voter very well tonight.
Maybe everybody in America knows what Trumps position on immigration is. But honestly, if they didn’t did they learn any thing about it tonight?
Or any other position he has?
That’s what I think the debates are for.

Does that fit your timeline?

Even better!

"A Bush aide told CNN that Trump never personally lobbied Bush to change casino gambling laws. "

What was the claim? "Jeb Bush is a candidate who can't be bought! And as proof, he resisted the lobbying of Donald Trump despite receiving donations from him, turning him down!"

So did Trump lobby in any form or fashion for a casino from Jeb Bush? Your own link never says a word about it.

You know as well as I do what Cruz’s position on amnesty is, He and Sessions defeated the Gang of 8 bill because of it.

Cruz opposes the pathway to citizenship, which is how he defines amnesty. He does not oppose granting legal status to aliens:

http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2015/08/ted_cruz_vs_donald_trump_whos_stronger_on_immigration.html

He probably didn’t know what to make of Carson’s comments on illegals. I’m still scratching my head over it.

But more accurately, he shared Carson's position, or a form of it, and so he dodged the question.

I guess you Trump supporters are now reduced to actually LYING to support your candidate.

I expect an apology, or else you really are a big schmuck.

I don’t disagree with you.

I just don’t know if your average NBC news, Dancing with the Stars, voter (and you know there are plenty out there) are going to be willing to split those hairs.
Especially with what a MSM that’s gunning for him already, can do with a story like this.
From what I’ve seen, it will probably roll off him like other stuff, but why jump in the shark infested pool if you don’t have to.

I’m going to crash. The words are running together on the screen.

‘Night Dude!

Rubio won on STYLE, and INFORMATION CONVEYED (given to voters on his position).

Style and information conveyed gets thrown out the window as soon as amnesty is pinned to him and he does nothing to reject it.

Rubio is an amnesty pimp and lost the debate the moment that reared its ugly head, and good riddance.
