I’ve decided to refrain from using The Prospective Candidate from NYC’s name..in any posts here. I figure that’s the least I can do t...

The Prospective Candidate from NYC’. came form a Wealthy Family.

Most Offspring of wealthy Parents with whom I have had the distinct displeasure to interact with have been complete and utter self absorbed JERKS

One here in Marin County ran for the state senate...on a plank of nothing but naked slogans....I did his website...so I know more than I can share here....

Painfully rude....etc..etc.

Im thinking that my overall take on The Prospective Candidate from NYC is somewhat similar to Bibby Jindahls although I havent heard Jindahl flesh that out as yet

** Count out Ted Cruz at your own risk**

I know some Socialist Dems who will support Trump over Clinton. If their man Bernie isn’t the Candidate, they would vote R for the first time ever.

They can’t understand my support for Cruz, and they have so many unflattering comparisons for Cruz with past politicians/leaders who have fallen from grace it gives me a preview of what the ad campaigns would look like if Cruz were the nominee.

I am trying to be pragmatic, and think that Trump has a better shot at being elected than Cruz. Trump seems very open to input from people like Cruz, and Sessions, and I see that as a plus.

From I read, I wouldn't call this anything near a Jeffersonian lie. Trump knows there is a public record on this stuff and Bloomberg has already published a long article on the details of it - It's totally public knowledge. So this would be like Bill Clinton AFTER the evidence of Monica came out, AFTER books had been written on it saying 'nothing happened.'

Trump isn't that stupid. He objected to the way Bush laid it out.

From Politifact, which I'm going to judge to be slightly Jeb biased but probably not enough to matter in this case:

We didn’t find that Trump directly petitioned the state for gambling, but there’s a pile of evidence that Trump was pursuing a deal to operate casinos on Seminole land in Florida. And at the same time, Trump gave money to Bush and the state party during Bush’s 1998 race for governor.

Trump said it was "totally false" that he sought casino gambling and failed, but we find that Bush has the better part of this fight. We rate Bush’s statement Mostly True.

Not Jeffersonian. Political.

Thank you Catsrus.
You’re the first one to be be decent enough to understand, that all I was posting was my opinion.
No where did I say I was pro amnesty, anti Trump, or anything else of the sort.
I called the debate as I saw it, simple as that.

“What have politicians DONE that is pro American or conservative?”

Ronald Reagan was a politician. Jeff Sessions (the man who wrote your hero’s immigration position) is a politician.
But I don’t guess either of these guy’s count in your attacks.

They must also be corrupt because they are the exact people I support.

Show me one piece of evidence, one, that TED CRUZ is CORRUPT! From ONE CREDIBLE Source!

I usually don’t respond to personal attacks, but damn it, I WILL NOT BE CALLED CORRUPT BY ANYONE!

Ok, to start with, what he said regarding the increase in salary requirements was during a post speech Q&A session. Sorry I can't remember the exact speech, but it was about the time Trump was announcing he was working with Sessions.

Here's what Cruz said on H-1B when in the Senate.

There is currently a serious shortage of workers in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math, yet every year we send thousands of high-tech graduate students back to their home countries to start businesses and create jobs. This makes no sense.

Donald Trumps comments during the News Conference when he signed the GOP Pledge, on 9/3, use almost these exact words. I can't find a written transcript of that either, but the videos of it are around. About 40 min long.

For further evidence, Google, or Bing, Cruz, Sessions, and Immigration together, and look at all the times they have been in lockstep on the issue.

Trump, Sessions, and Cruz are united on immigration reform.

Sorry, I usually can provide direct evidence, but I can't find a copy of what I heard in Cruz's speech Q&A that day. If I run across a transcript, I'll get you a link, or a copy.

Trump tried to get Lawton Chiles on board with gaming in Florida. Chiles was the Governor before Bush. Trump did not approach Bush about it because it was well know Bush was rabidly opposed.

The biggest problem with Jeb is the Bush name. Even if he were a rock-ribbed, solid conservative I could support him for the nomination because the country doesn’t need and doesn’t want three Republican presidents in a row from the same family. The Bush name means he cannot win. Game over.

You sound like C Edmund Wright.

Many of us who support Trump neither think he is perfect or love him. Nor do I think he’s necessary at almost any time.

But tell me who else will actually get anything done? I’ll be amazed if even Trump can get anything done ...

In a perfect world, we have Cruz. In a less perfect world - in fact - in a world that’s upside down right now - I’ll take Trump/Cruz with no reservations, assuming we see more of Trump into the future.

Remember - the president is a manager and leader. I think you might mistake many Trump supporters as cult followers. Not at all. The guy is a good manager, I know many people who have reason to testify to that personally ... put aside the bloviating showmanship ... behind that is a very very very serious man, who doesn’t smoke, drink, womanize, has virtually no bad habits other than a very healthy ego, went to military school and attended church a lot. There is a character behind all the show, and there is a genuine love of the country - even if he hasn’t perfectly translated that into what we would think of as a conservative philosophy. He’ll surround himself with experts who are conservative and effective (and even some who aren’t conservative) ... and he will provide what this country needs: EFFECTIVE management and leadership, with an affection for the country.

Who else can be effective in this environment? If you can convince me about someone being more effective -> I’ll happily relinquish Trump.

But I’ve yet to be criticized by anyone who can actually put thought behind the key question facing our country: Forget about your PHILOSOPHY about turning the boat away from going off the edge of the earth -> who actually CAN change the direction enough - we don’t even need a perfect direction - we just need ‘no longer towards suicide? I can’t guarantee Trump can ... but that’s where I place my best right now.

Debate me on that if you like. My opening statement is this: The country will not follow the people we want, they will get nothing done, the boat will be going in the same deadly direction 4 years hence with any of the ELECTABLE men on that debate stage.

The floor is yours.

I should proofread 5 times before posting.

I said “Nor do I think he’s necessary at almost any time.” ... typo ... what I mean is, at any other moment in history, he’s the wrong man. At this moment, one like him is necessary. And I hate people who say ‘moment in history’ ... but it’s the right phrase for this.

And forget about debating on this thread ... it’s way too old and no one’s reading. Let’s pick it up on a future thread where I’m sure we’ll disagree again ... talk then!

Nothing there about salary requirements - only a modest increase in fees for the employer.

What do salary requirements have to do with wanting to increase the number of H1B visas? The article I gave a link to indicated he has offered amendments to bills in the senate to increase the number of Visas given out each year.

Cruz supports the program and worse goes out of his way to expand it is why he won't get my vote (Unless it's a choice between him and Kaisich or Christie).

There is currently a serious shortage of workers in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math

False: "the country has more than twice as many workers with STEM degrees as there are STEM jobs. Also consistent with other research, we find only modest levels of wage growth for such workers for more than a decade. Both employment and wage data indicate there is no shortage of STEM workers in the United States." - http://cis.org/no-stem-shortage

[rikkir:] Cruz only supports it [H-1B] if salary requirements increase.

I Googled but couldn't verify this claim; what's your source?

[stig:] I heard Senator Cruz say it on a radio news show going over quotes of the day. But here is at least one link:

http://www.computerworld.com/article/2900126/ted-cruz-the-presidential-candidate-who-wants-to-increase-the-h-1b-cap-by-500.html

Nothing there about salary requirements - only a modest increase in fees for the employer.

[stig:] What do salary requirements have to do with wanting to increase the number of H1B visas?

Salary requirements was rikkir's claim for which I requested his source. (I copied you because he made that claim in a reply to you.)

The article I gave a link to indicated he has offered amendments to bills in the senate to increase the number of Visas given out each year.

Cruz supports the program and worse goes out of his way to expand it is why he won't get my vote (Unless it's a choice between him and Kaisich or Christie).

Agreed 100%.
