BOONE, Iowa – Donald Trump zeroed in Saturday on Republican rival Ben Carson, questioning whether he has the energy to be president, a line he has frequently used to taunt Jeb Bush.
"I don't think Ben has the energy," said Trump, before calling him a "nice man" and arguing that he is not cut out for negotiating with some foreign officials.
The attack came as Carson, a retired surgeon running an outsider campaign like Trump, has surged into second place in many surveys, behind the brash real estate mogul.
Trump, who campaigned here before heading to a tailgate party where a trio of other GOP hopefuls were also appearing, also criticized Carson for recently questioning his Christian faith.
"You don't hit a person on faith," said Trump. "I don't know him. He knows nothing about me."

I was talking on your level... I don’t approach God from the viewpoint of Christian Science but a mainline fundamentalism.
I don’t mind using space as a metaphor but we have to go back to the bible in the end. God certainly didn’t leave us alone in spaces. That is the wish of a person who is still allergic to God. He will embrace any willing person in love, which is utterly customized to that person.
That is an accurate observation except I think the character Trump is playing is also exactly who Trump is at a deeper level.

No, he thinks HE is the most qualified person. And I think he’s right.
Unlike nearly everyone in NYC, Trump is a teetotaler. So he has nothing else to do but stay active. As you know, he is everywhere at once and always on the go. I am sure he would drive his wife crazy if he stayed at home all the time.
We don't need a wimpy pastor as President...we need a tough but decent man or woman.

I’m not buying his change of heart. No one changes their stance on nearly every issue all at once.

Giuliani: I believe she should be under an investigation by the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York for obstruction of justice, for destroying government property. I think it’s clear that she had a conflict of interest. Her husband getting hundreds of millions of dollars. She’s making decisions about companies and about corporations that he’s getting money from. And they — I think they file a joint tax return.
Giuliani: I’d have her under investigation for about five different crimes right now. And I think it’s outrageous that the Justice Department is not moving forward with this. General Petraeus, a lot of other people have gone to jail-
So that’s fine if you’re pushing a NY-RINO. Trump’s not a conservative and his focus on illegal immigration is doubly dangerous because it’s just a symptom and not the real problem America faces.
