Clinton aide (Huma) Abedin to testify at Benghazi panel

Longtime Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin is scheduled to testify before the House committee investigating the 2012 terrorist attacks in Benghazi, Libya, in the coming weeks.

Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) told reporters on Thursday that Abedin would appear before a closed-door meeting of the committee at some point before Clinton’s public testimony on Oct. 22.

Abedin serves a top role in Clinton’s front-running 2016 presidential campaign and was her deputy chief of staff during Clinton’s time as secretary of State. Abedin is also the wife of former Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.).

The news about her appearance came after another former State Department official, Bryan Pagliano, briefly appeared before the committee, where he invoked his constitutional right against self-incrimination.

Pagliano — a former IT official who assisted in setting up Clinton’s personal email server — was brought in to plead the Fifth in person despite the protests of Democrats on the panel. He had previously turned down an offer to give a “preview” interview to Senate lawmakers before striking a deal granting him immunity.

“If Chairman Gowdy actually wanted to find out what Mr. Pagliano knows, he would follow the lead of Senate Republicans and consider immunity — something Democrats would support,” Rep. Elijah Cummings (Md.), the panel’s top Democrat, said in a statement. “The chairman has already publicly rejected that idea, so today’s event is pure political theater.”

Damn, I had to go in and take a shower. For the first time ever, I agree with Elijah Cummings, These hearings are nothing more than theater. Same as the hearings headed by Darrel Issa. Kabuki Theater.
Sad part is there seem to be people even here on Free Republic that think these hearings are real.

So what?

If Huma told the panel that she hand delivered the locations of the ambassador to the terrorists Gowdy still wouldn’t do anything except talk about how outraged he is.

Well, Elijah, we got us a dead United States Ambassador. You know, the guy who represented each and every American in our dealings with Libya.

He’s dead.

Now, everybody in the whole world agrees that he died in a planned assault.

That means the bad guys had to have intelligence, information, on where the Ambassador would be at a given time and how much security he had.

The bad guys got that intelligence/information from somewhere.

Could they have taken it from Hillary’s unsecure, not coded, computer or phone?

Damn right they could have.

If you think that finding out who screwed up and got an American Ambassador killed is “political theater”, then you need to go find a dunce hat and glue it to your head.

As long as Lois Lerner is still walking around free, collecting her exorbitant pension after testifying then refusing to answer questions, I have little faith in congressional hearings.

If they give the IT Director immunity he can then claim he was responsible for the server, clarified info going to it, etc. He could take the fall and walk free.

Not me, I believe Gowdy is a little yapping dog that fits in a woman’s small purse.

If it is theater, why is it being held in closed session. Sounds like a bad way to publicize a play.

The fact is that the hearings have been stymied by the fact that Mrs. Clinton withheld information and it went unknown until very recently when it was discovered that she had a private e-mail server that she did all business on.

Gowdy is a top DA. He has never lost a case and he is a bulldog.

The Congress can not prosecute, only the attorney generals office can. They are now completely politicized. Hell, Holder has been held in contempt of congress.

That is why it is so important that a Republican, a Conservative one, is elected President. Only with a new AG will prosecutions be made.

Bush refused to prosecute Clinton. The candidates should declare now, which prosecutions will they act on or which investigations will they complete. It’s time for criminals to be sent to prison.

For what it is worth...Gowdy was asked that this morning on a TV interview. His response was that in closed door thing they are not limited to only 5 minutes each to ask questions like in an open setting. I did not know that.......or if it is even true. I don’t believe any politician on just about anything.
