For all the talk about Donald Trump allegedly driving minorities away from the Republican Party, could he actually bring people in?
A SurveyUSA poll released Friday shows in a hypothetical matchup with Hillary Clinton, Trump is ahead 45% to 40%.
But digging into the racial breakdown of the respondents is revealing. For example, the poll finds 25% of black respondents say they would vote for Trump over Clinton.
How impressive is that?

Yes—but the post that I was responding to alleged that Eisenhower was the last to top 25%. Given that Johnson wasn’t until 1964, a quick search was in order.
Probably right. All four of my grandparents were black, and they all voted Republican to their dying day.
Sounds like the only group that will continue to be discriminated against and disenfranchised because it is so safe to do so will be the white non-Hispanic male. Which is business as usual. After all, aren’t we the real and true oppressors of everyone else? The only demographic your quote refers to with any degree of regularity is “women”. So now we know illegal aliens and the broken border risk to national security threatens the livelihood of Blacks as well as that nebulous category known as “Women in the workplace”. But definitely NOT white males.
All a president can do is use the bully pulpit, sign, or veto. Everything originates in the Congress and is required to be passed by Congress.
Let's see what the GOPe gives The Donald to pass or veto. It sounds like the two of you believe the GOPe Congress will greatly reduce spending on its own, so hopefully The Donald will go along and change America for the better, as the GOPe has been trying to do for years—they have just needed a simple majority in both Houses to make this work, right?
Right? Bueller? Bueller?
I understand hospitals and I understand medical practices. I don’t understand how big the organization that Carson led at John Hopkins is. But I seriously doubt it provided him the organizational experience to be an effective president. I’m not saying he can’t get there with some grooming. I just doubt seriously that he’s ready.
If you know how many people and executives he managed, fill us in. I’d love to be proven wrong. I’d like nothing better than the guy who is poling #2 in the primary to have the skills necessary to do the job.
They can't. Because Trump is not a conservative and he has already shown he cannot be trusted.
Majority of LEGAL Latino’s in US are middle class and educated. They are not exactly in love with illegals. But they can not openly support Trump.
Here in Arizona’s there are prominent signs at the entrance of every Sprouts that says they use E-Verify on all employees. That same sign is on every food store. Also, just a few days ago a judge upheld the right of police officers to ask for ID from any citizen to show legal residency. They even had a lawsuits against Sheriff Joe implying Joe had violated all these laws against illegals and they were all dropped.
Amazing!
You are pointing out the double edge sword we do not talk about much.
I truly believe that if Trump makes it to the general election he will garner support from certain voters across the spectrum who would never have voted for Mitt, McCain or Cruz for that matter.
These will be democrats of varying stripes who view Trump to be socially liberal and not someone who will take down to size of government.
Sure, Trump will do some rallies with Pat Robertson and all that, but these Dems will know he’s not serious. Same for social programs.
But I don’t really care as long as he builds the wall and nominates Alito type supreme court justices. I’m not sure he will do either but am willing to take a chance here.
I know Latin Americans who strongly support Trump.
I have no idea. But AZ is the largest port for illegals in the US. It is epidemic.
Enforcing E-Verify is like a virtual wall.
Sheriff Joe is also very influential with 80% approvals. Come to think of it Joe is very much like Trump and the two are friends. Maybe that is why Trump is rising so fast.
In Arizona there simply are no police disrespect problems like in other parts of the country.
Maybe we are at the cusp of a movement to reverse all this bs. I know if we get rid of the anchor baby thing 95% of out crime and illegals problem will go away and Americans will be able to find opportunity.
Sarah Palin is probably thinking :” Finally some real men are coming on the scene to do what needs to be done.”
Oh, and he wants to increase by 600% the number of legal immigrant workers in the US.
Oh, and he campaigned for and voted for the TPA.
I sure am glad we have idiots like this as our conservative leaders, aren't you?
Geeez Louise, do we really have to go through all that again? For the umpteenth time, read her book!
Could it be that many blacks have decided it best to join the American race and reject the evil of racism. I sure hope so.
May God save America from the weakmess and destruction of separation from Him. Amen.
You're painting with an awfully wide brush there, friend. Blacks aren't the monolithic herd you might think they are. We come in all sorts of flavors, and not all of us are impressed with pure bravado and bluster.
Culturally speaking, you're not entirely off the mark, though I suspect Trump's stance on illegal immigration is the biggest driving factor in that poll result.
Polls...ain’t news.
Yep. After almost eight years of Zero at the helm, conditions for most blacks have actually worsened. I think this poll result reflects black disenchantment with the Democrat party.
So much for Hope&Change.
I don’t have time to read her book. It’s task number 2315. Tell me what I would learn from reading her book. She stepped down for the good of the state. And I accept that at face value. But by stepping down she probably left the future governors just as vulnerable to the same tactics.
If the GOP candidate gets 25% of the Black vote today, the Democrats are dead.
You need to read it again.
