Republican disappointment with renaming of Mt.McKinley sparks petition drive-rename Reagan airport

President Obama returning the name of the United States’ tallest mountain from Mount McKinley to Denali has sparked a name-game feud, most recently Republicans under attack by an influential liberal PAC that is setting its sights on Ronald Reagan National Airport.

The group, CREDO Action, the political arm of San Francisco-based cellphone company Credo Mobile, is behind the effort with a petition drive.

“Tell John Boehner: Rename Ronald Reagan Airport,” the group writes on its webpage seeking petition signatures. “President Obama just took a small but important step for recognizing the history, culture, and human rights of America’s Native Americans when he decided to rename …. Mount McKinley in Alaska. But right-wing extremists in the Republican party, including House Speaker Rep. John Boehner, don’t see it that way.”

I'd love to see Logan International Airport named after Sarah Palin.Princess Liawaha (among others) would go absolutely ape-poop!

I thought a regional government entity named a garbage landfill the Obama waste refuge site?

We can start doing that too;

The “Senator Ted Kennedy Memorial Waste landfill.”

The Dr. Howard Dean Asylum for the Mentally Insane.

The Debbie Wasserman Shultz Dipsy-Doo Hair Styling Salon.

The William Ayers “Haymarket” Chair, University of Chicago Department of Chemistry

And on and on....

So, Daff, what gives any President the authority to start renaming major geological features whose title is already settled? This is very disgruntling -- Obama is way too big for his britches,

Anybody??

Oh for the love of....

Geez-o-Pete, the People of Alaska have wanted the name changed for quite some time. It’s in their state,it’s their mountain. As far as I’m concerned, it’s their call.

As for Reagan Int’l. No way - no how!

He’s the only president in my lifetime that I’ve not only been proud to vote for, but proud of the results.

It is fitting of Obie’s *style*......If you think about it....little by little he is re-writing the Constitution, since he’s been in DC.

I’d be ok with renaming in the Peoples House. Hopefully to remind the resident who it really belongs to and who the are supposed to report to and represent.

As the full scope of Obama’s perfidy and treason becomes clear in the years to come, his name will be erased from ever surface it soils

Wishful thinking; I don't know if the American people would give Obama a third term, but they might, were there no 22nd Amendment.

Make it crayon because that’s what the left is. Sometimes it is good that the enemy comes out of hiding. I am so disappointed that we (Republicans) as a majority act the same and pee their pants.

I looked up some info about the group that stated this *petition*: *CREDO Action*

Looks like they are radical left wing progressives, of the highest order. Their goal? To belittle the opposition at all costs. Figures. About the CREDO Mission, from their website:

CREDO is a social change organization that supports activism and funds progressive nonprofits—efforts made possible by the revenues from our mobile phone company, CREDO Mobile.

Over the course of our history, CREDO has raised over $79 million for Democracy Now!, Brennan Center for Justice, Doctors Without Borders, ACLU, EFF, Planned Parenthood, 350.org and hundreds of other nonprofit groups.

Our activism arm, CREDO Action, channels the power of its 3.5 million members to fight for progressive change. We’ve generated over 16 million letters and phone calls to decision-makers in Washington D.C., in state and local governments, and in corporate headquarters across the country. Our members have submitted their signatures over 127 million times on CREDO petitions and in public comments to government agencies.

Victories in 2014, with more to come.

Progressives must fight on every front to beat back right wing assaults on women’s rights, the environment, equality and social justice. CREDO activists moved the needle in many of these fights, winning outright victories along the way:

Our history-making Pledge of Resistance—signed by 100,000 CREDO members and co-organized with Rainforest Action Network and Other 98%—was a major factor in delaying the approval of the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline. We drove President Obama to bar federal contractors from firing employees based on sexual orientation or gender identity, and mandate a higher minimum wage for any company that does business with the federal government. We successfully blocked Congress from fast-tracking approval of the disastrous TransPacific Partnership treaty. And we helped force federal regulators to stop banks from targeting low-income borrowers with predatory loans.

BIG mistake trying to rename anything with Reagan on it. That was over 50 years ago that he saved the country. Just 27 years ago he was in office.

Alot of people over 45 who voted for him and remember the good days.
