Exclusive: RNC Reince to Meet The Donald at Trump Tower to Discuss GOP ‘Loyalty Pledge'
Breitbart ^ | September 2,2015 | Alex Marlow & Stephen K. Bannon

Posted on 09/02/2015 5:22:14 PM PDT by Hojczyk

A source with knowledge of these matters has confirmed to Breitbart News exclusively that RNC Chairman Reince Priebus will meet with Donald Trump “at Trump Tower in Midtown Manhattan tomorrow afternoon to discuss the ‘loyalty pledge.'”

Politico reported earlier today that the RNC plans to ask candidates to sign a pledge that they will support whoever is nominated by the Republican Party and not oppose them in the general election. The political magazine speculated that the pledge is designed to “force the front-runner’s [Trump’s] hand”:

The Republican National Committee on Wednesday privately reached out to GOP presidential candidates to ask whether they’d be willing to sign a pledge stating they would not run as an independent candidate in the event they fail to win the Republican nomination in 2016.

The move is an implicit challenge to Trump, who pointedly refused to rule out a third-party run during the first GOP debate. He was the only candidate who declined.

The language of the draft pledge speaks directly to the issue vexing Republicans – the possibility that the billionaire could choose to wage a third party bid if he fails to win the GOP nomination, a prospect that could seriously damage the GOP’s prospects of reclaiming the White House. Tapping into deep anti-establishment animosity among the conservative grassroots, Trump has surged to the lead of the deepest presidential field in recent memory. If Trump were to pull just a fraction of the vote as an independent, write-in or third party candidate, it could be enough to sink the eventual Republican nominee.

The source also tells Breitbart News that requesting candidates to pledge not to run as a third party has been a topic of internal debate at the Republican National Committee for several weeks.

Well, Trump's been saying all along that the Politicians are terrible negotiators. This is a great case in point. Reince goes to Trump Towers. It's on Trump's turf. Trump has the clear advantage in any negotiations that take place.

Trump will have even more leverage if he makes the loyalty commitment reciprocal. "Will all 16 others support me if I am the nominee?"

Will the RNC the Congressional Republican leadership also sign a pledge to support Trump if he wins the nomination?

“I see it as the establishment embracing him as a legitimate candidate.”
Absolutely not.

The more I think on it the more I think this is mainly to demean him with anti-establishment voters.
But of course, I don’t have inside knowledge of what’s going through their little twisted minds.

Why would anybody sign a loyalty pledge with a bunch of liars and cowards? I mean I am no Trump groupie but common sense says the Republicans have no clue what loyalty is or is not.

I’m sure Donald Trump is knowledgeable enough about contract negotiations to gain consideration in return for any contractual constraint. If he gives something up, he’s going to get something in return, and on the whole he’ll gain more than he loses or he won’t agree.

We are witnessing in full view the underhanded tactics of the established political machine like a mafia that is precisely the reason for Trump’s popularity in the first place.

Does this mean Rience is finally willing to pledge full support for Conservatism?

Would not be surprised if Trump trumps Priebus’ loyalty pledge with one of his own...insisting the RNC support the voters choice.

Why should he sign a pledge that limits what he does and suggests he stand in line for the GOPe.

As the potential future leader of the free world shouldn't they be the ones answering to him?

Donald - do up your own pledge for them to sign first. Sign their pledge and keep it, as long as they keep theirs.

Exactly. Trump should not take the RNC pledge, unless the RNC agrees to support him if he’s the Republican nominee.

Yep it’s a win win for Trump. If he wins then the RNC or the other candidates have to support him.

Trump should get a loyalty promise from GOPe that they will be loyal to the American people and look out for what is good for America’s economy and workers for a change. Also that they will ditch McConnell and Boner.
