Law of Unintended Consequences: New EU Tax Laws Force Thousands of Businesses to Close in Just Six Months { Full title ].
New European Union tax rules introduced in January have already driven thousands of small companies out of business, with thousands more set to follow as awareness of the change in the VAT law grows. Research has shown that incompetence on the part of collecting agencies has further added misery to the situation.
After an eight-year consultation which excluded the voices of micro-businesses, the EU introduced new rules on VAT returns at the beginning of this year, which required digitally delivered services to apply VAT according to the customer’s, not the supplier’s location.
Designed to prevent large businesses locating themselves in VAT-competitive territories, it had the predictable effect of drowning small businesses under a sea of bureaucracy, forcing them to access the data required to prove the customer’s location, figure out which of more than 80 VAT rates to apply, and issue an invoice in the correct language, currency and layout.
Unable to afford the costly software required to deal with the regulation, thousands of small business and sole traders have closed or abandoned their enterprises. Most of those who have continued to trade have either moved to third party platforms, losing up to 70 percent of their total revenue (not just non-domestic sales) in commission, or spent thousands on software.

This isn’t any damned “unintended consequence”.
Big government, whether it be the EU, the US Feds or the U.N. are all ultimately bought and paid for by large corporations. A big part of what they are paying for is the legal harassment of small and start-up businesses.
Those consequences were intended. The EU loves beneficial crises even more than Obama does.

Small businesses are a pain for the Tax Collector State and are discouraged and marginalized deliberately by policy and enforcement. It works that way here, also. That is one of the reasons behind Obamacare.

Not an accident. The goal of the planners is to ensure everyone is employed by big business or government. It makes us controllable. Small business is their enemy. They won this round - in Europe.

It should come as no surprise that they pass laws in the EU to destroy small business and leave only big business standing.

The ruling party in the UK right now is the “Conservative Party” of David Cameron that has doubled the county’s national debt in its first term, gave the final blessing to gay marriage and supported Obama’s cave in to Iran on nuclear weapons.
Given that so-called crony capitalism was/is a goal of the communists for the USA, then clearly it is one of the “many roads to socialism” that they conceived (and as Khrushchev put it, back in 1955).
