Amid mounting concerns about Donald Trumps candidacy from the GOP establishment, Republican leaders in at least two states have found a way to make life a lot harder for him.
The Virginia and North Carolina parties are in discussions about implementing a new requirement for candidates to qualify for their primary ballots: that they pledge to support the Republican presidential nominee and not run as a third-party candidate in the general election.

But, but, but that’s my leverage....you can’t take away my leverage.
Off to tweet outrageous things...
Why the hell shouldn’t someone who doesn’t vow not to run third party and hand the election to the rats be proscribed from running as a Republican? Everyone here would love this if it was Lindsay Graham or Lard Boy Cristie Creme threatening to run third party.
Take a gander at election map 1912. Call it the TR rule.
Absolutely NOTHING could be worse than the last 6.5 years, Jimmy Carter wasn’t this bad!!!!!
You guys are really getting delusional about the many mysterious powers of Donald Trump....
Meanwhile he’s off behaving like a child in Twitterland. And don’t think that’s not how most adults are going to perceive him if he keeps it up.
>>Those who say, like myself, theres not a dimes worth of difference in the 2 parties are being proven right.<<
You know, if you keep repeating that lie you might start believing it yourself. Can you, for example, imagine Ted Cruz or Scott Walker or Ben Carson being accepted by the Democrat Party? Because that’s what you’re saying when you say there’s not a dime’s worth of difference between the two parties.
Complete and utter nonsense...
Don’t bother them with the facts. They’re having too much fun throwing tantrums with their hero, Trump.
More delusion...sheesh
I think you’re right.
So Trump holds the party hostage by refusing to swear off a third party run if he’s allowed to run as a GOP candidate, and the people trying to ensure that he’s sincere about running as a Republican are the ones playing dirty.
We see what we want to see when it comes to Trump. The man is running the biggest political con game of all time. I’m still not convinced he’s in it for Hillary. After all, he has so far had little bad to say about her. Compare his treatment of Hillary to Fiorina’s for example.
Dirty means rigging. They would rig it without the threat to go 3rd party for sure. You know who conned me? The Republicans. And they did it for at least 30 years. If Trump cons me, what do I have to lose at this point? Same as it ever was.
As for Hillary, Trump has repeatedly said she probably will not be the nominee and that she needs to go to jail. That’s about as critical as it gets.
Remember Mississippi!
Since when does a pledge mean anything in the republican party?
You know Norseman, that’s what makes this country great......you have your opinion and I have mine.
If they do these dirty tricks there will be a new party and GOPe schmucks will NOT be welcome in it. Come on, you money and power grubbing losers, make yourselves obsolete; go on.
These establishment A-holes are gonna keep on until there is a Third Party Ticket of Trump/Cruz or Trump/Carson. But, they don’t care. Establishment GOP politicians would rather lose the White House than risk losing their power and positions. If any Third Party Ticket could win, one of the two above could do it.
What makes you think it would be a Democrap victory; Perot got one hell of a lot of votes even though he went bugnuts crazy.
Trump may not be my guy, but one thing he is not is crazy or stupid.
If he went 3rd party or Indy he could take a lot of R votes with him, plus appeal to a lot of Indies and some disaffected Demo’s.
” Trump may not be my guy, but one thing he is not is crazy or stupid.

I agree with you ; but apparently the GOPe doesn’t .
Make the pledge and lie about it - they don’t deserve the truth and to quote (paraphrase) an old movie line, “They can’t handle the truth!”.
Yeah. Kind of embarrassing to think back. I can remember having arguments with people about the parties being different. Guess I was wrong.
As a vulgarian Trump has a lot of leeway when talking on twitter.
