State GOP leaders plot to tie Donald Trump’s hands. [VA and NC]

Amid mounting concerns about Donald Trump’s candidacy from the GOP establishment, Republican leaders in at least two states have found a way to make life a lot harder for him.

The Virginia and North Carolina parties are in discussions about implementing a new requirement for candidates to qualify for their primary ballots: that they pledge to support the Republican presidential nominee — and not run as a third-party candidate — in the general election.

Mitt Romney benefited from GOPee tinkering with VA primary rules in 2012. It is obvious that VA is for RINOs.

I can’t believe two southern states came up with this blackmail.

Glad we chose Tennessee- VA and NC near the Appalachians in that corner where they intersect were our other choices.

Trump is a man who anticipates the problems and he has a nuclear option for his opposition.

Reince Preibus is talking nicely about Trump. I believe Trump is NEGOTIATING right now and putting the deal together. Not all Republicans in the party want to lose. Trump is very aware of what it takes to make a deal. He is picking them off one by one and making them fall in line. You don’t think Trump is sitting around waiting for the opposition to strike do you? Hell Trump may have leaked this story so that the opposition is on notice that he knows.

If there is one thing I know about Trump. He never sits around hoping for the best. He anticipates where the rats’ nest is and then he takes a flame thrower to it. In other words winning is very big on his list and he destroys what will potentially make him lose.

He is working in the background right now deal making to ensure he will end up on top. That is the Trump way.

It is true that whoever attacks Trump gets wiped out. The same will hold with these GOP nuts in VA and NC. No worries.

Trump is not just the front runner but he is showing us what kind of a leader we are getting before we even vote for him. He is showing us how tough he is and how he turns lemons into lemonade.

We will see how he will overcome the establishment Uniparty before one vote is cast.

To Main Street that is intoxicating. Trump has a set in his pants that clink like metal Bocce balls when he walks. My kind of man.

He can sign that pledge. Courts have repeatedly ruled that the electors, not the candidate, are the legal parties in interest. IOW, you could run a Trump elector slate (if you can get the signatures) with or without Trump’s approval.

I know. I think I was listening to Levin who said the GOP has been screwing us for 35 years now. Even if the establishment GOP won the presidency they would screw us.

That is why I see no downside in going with Trump. We might be pleasantly surprised.

So trump should take the pledge, which can be invalidated if he suffers from dirty tricks

I for one would not hold him to a pledge by a bunch of juvenile ego driven narcissists

Agreed, this sounds less than legally binding.

Trump can simply campaign as a write-in in those states...if they allow write-ins in the primary.

“The Virginia and North Carolina parties are in discussions about implementing a new requirement for candidates to qualify for their primary ballots: that they pledge to support the Republican presidential nominee — and not run as a third-party candidate — in the general election.”

Fine. Sign the pledge if necessary and then ignore it. Not enforceable as a legal contract.

Call your state GOP chairman...and, have all of your friends/family call, too. Say enough is enough of the shenanigans.

Only people who dispise the Republican Base more than the Democrat Party Leadership, is the Republican Party Leadership.

George Wallace was right...no two bits worth of difference...not with Boner, McSurrender&Lies and gang running the Repub Party. Hope they are getting paid for kissing O’s...

It is not that they are robbing Trump. though they are. It is that they are robbing Trump’s supporters, many of whom are republicans. It is just stupid. We are a republic. Let people support the candidate of their choice. If it is a disaster then it is a disaster. Can’t be worse than the last 6.5 years.

Hey, civil servants had to swear an oath of loyalty to Der Fuehrer. Why shouldn’t a potential President of the United States, somebody who stands for those who voted for him and those who didn’t, take an oath to Der Partie?

Not only stupid and obnoxious, but creepy and troubling.
