Michael Reagan to Trump: Stop Using My Father While ‘Trashing What He Believed In’
Breitbart ^ | 08/19/2015 | Pam Key

Posted on 08/19/2015 9:44:59 AM PDT by E. Pluribus Unum

Tuesday evening on NewsMax TV’s “Newsmax Prime,” Michael Reagan, son of former President Ronald Reagan, criticized Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump for invoking his father’s name while on the campaign trail.

The younger Reagan said, “If my dad were alive, what he’d be saying is this: ‘Well, there they go.’ It’s amazing how many of these people, including Donald Trump now, dropping my father’s name to try and wrap them in the mantle of Ronald Reagan. Let’s be honest, never going to happen with Donald Trump.”

“These people looking to wrap themselves in the mantle of Ronald Reagan are doing a disservice to themselves and a disservice to my father,” he said. “Wrap yourself in your own mantle, tell us who you are.”

Contrary to what he obviously believes, Michael stopped being a credible voice for his stepdad years ago.

He's been dining out on that connection for far too long already.

I agree with Michael and I'm not sold on Trump.

But the Donald might still be the best that this morally degenerate country is even capable of electing at this time.

I didn’t realize the Trumpster was trying to portray himself as another Ronald Reagan. But truth and rationality aren’t Trump’s strong suit anyway. Incoherent rabble-rousing is, and Ronald Reagan, by contrast, was an excellent, reasoned and even witty speaker.

Let’s not forget that it was under Ronald Reagan that we had the last all-encompassing amnesty passed — 1987.

I haven't hear Michael Reagan in a while, but the last time I heard him, he seemed pretty solid. What has he said or done that make you say that?

RE: Michael stopped being a credible voice for his stepdad years ago.

Did he suddenly turn liberal like his brother Ron or something?

WAIT A MINUTE!!!!

ARe we sure this is accurate? I think it’s Ron Reagan who is trashing Trump. I thought Michael REagan, the adopted son, was for Trump.

Ron REagan the young peep squeek, is a liberal and democrat.

Isn’t Michael using his father? Anyway, you become public domain in that sense when you are a politician.

Have to remember that we’re now dealing with two generations of voters who don’t even remember his dad.

It was more than that. Reagan had a sentimental liberal view of immigration in general.

I didn’t realize the Trumpster was trying to portray himself as another Ronald Reagan.

The only time I've heard Trump compare himself to Reagan is when he's asked about his past liberal positions. He says "That was a long time ago and I changed, by the way Ronald Reagan was a loyal Democrat and pretty liberal guy for years when he was young but he changed and became pretty conservative". He doesn't say he has Reagan's positions or that he's the next Reagan, at least I haven't heard him do so.

Michael Reagan doesn’t need to say it. People can see for themselves.

Thats true. Its always a mistake to trust congress and specifically, democrats, to hold up their end of a deal.

If they had we wouldn't be struggling with this problem today, everyone would consider Simpson Mazzoli a huge success.

Where would Michael Reagan be without his step-dad? Trump is a public figure and can invoke the name of a former great POTUS anytime he wants.

Unless he’s like Trump and changing his views on looking at polls and just spouting off different things on the direction of the wind, I think they mean Ronnie JR.

I’m not sure the Donald would be the best that
could be elected but he sure might be the
most effective.

Just like Bush, Kucinich etc. It is idiocy and anti-American. The country is being destroyed by a flood of anti-American Third World rejects.
