Journalist He Xiaoxin of The Beijing News (新京报) traveled to report from the scene of the massive explosion in a chemical warehouse at the Tianjin port, in which 104 people have been reported killed so far. Dramatic photos and videos of the explosion traveled quickly around the world via the Internet. But in this photo essay, He provides an up-close, personal look at the devastation. Propaganda officials have since banned media from reporting on the explosion or posting stories that did not originate from Xinhua:

Reads like a movie script. But then, even the most doped up Hollywood screenwriter couldn’t come up with something stranger than this.

They have fragile bodies to work with, is the point, and they can be gone in a moment.
The writer is so close to what might secularly be called cosmic revelation.
It is often tragedy that causes God to become unveiled to people who ignored Him in their worldly comfort.

Wow. I read his whole report. Hes a remarkable young man. He wasnt going to quit. Somehow, even in the midst of a communist country, people look for truth. Having a major chemical fire and explosion near your house tends to do that.
...btw. Have the Chicoms thought about presenting a journalistic front about some dentist shooting a lion?

The combination of chemicals. One might say unwise, but I wonder if it had been “allowed”/planned by someone with malice at heart, bitter at an apparent pointless existence.

The writer is so close to what might secularly be called cosmic revelation. Pretty much my take as well.
A life changing moment.

Those photos are staggering.
What an absolute inferno that must have been.
Those poor people who got killed.

That’s probably all the bodies they FOUND.
After seeing the cars, I’ll bet any human remains are only ashes now.

True, that might be like 104 known dead, 500+ unaccounted for

Dear God, Lord Jesus Christ, please have mercy on China. And especially on the people that were affected by this fire and explosions.

Reminds me of reading of the space launch disaster the Chinese had that blew away a small town. Chinese never did own up to how many died.

The nitrates are just oxidizers, there has to be something combustible, and distribution is a factor.

How many cars were in that lot... and how many corresponded to the staff at that plant? Thankfully the vast parking lots of cars were new cars being shipped through the port. So while there was a tremendous loss of property for the manufacturers, the number of cars isn't indicative of the number of people in the area.
Sadly there were fire fighters and police close to the explosion, and of course many people injured further away from the effects of the blast.
It also appears that large stacks of shipping containers may have absorbed some of the energy of the blast - a bit of good luck in a terrible situation.

Well, the carbides are one source of such fuel...

Roughly 3-5 psi over pressure. About what you’d expect a mile from a Hiroshima sized blast.
