Glenn Beck: Why Do Conservative Pundits Support Trump?

Glenn Beck wants to stage a conservative intervention. The former Fox News host and prominent conservative commentator is confounded that so many Republican voters are attracted to Donald Trump. And Beck is particularly bewildered by the conservative pundits who are hooked on the bombastic real estate mogul. "Why are big name 'conservatives' supporting him?" Beck asked wrote in a Facebook post on Thursday. Beck went on to name names, calling out some of Trump's biggest boosters in conservative media: Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Michael Savage.

"I am not talking about the average Joe, I am talking about Sean Hannity or Ann Colter (sic). How about Savage or Rush?" Beck wrote. "These are smart people. What am I missing? Just based on his favorability ratings he could never win in a general. Research shows that he may be near his ceiling now."

Former U.S. Attorney General Edwin Meese...on Reagan's 'FIRING' 11,000 air trafficking controllers as his first act as President......

: "As much as anything in the first year (the way Reagan handled the air-traffic controllers strike) convinced people in other capitals around the world, including the Soviet leaders, that they had a person of real substance that they were dealing with here. ... He didn't look back (on firing the workers) because he was convinced it was the only thing he could do under the law. He didn't worry unnecessarily or bemoan what occurred. He looked on to the next challenge and what was the next thing to do.

Ok you are obviously not getting the Christian part of this.\

There is not a thing wrong with a mans judgement who tries to ease the suffering of others.
If you truly think that way, you are much more lost than I can help you with.

Why don’t you answer one of my questions?

Would you have let those children die in the desert?
Would you have set back, had a good laugh as they plucked those bodies out of the sand?

This was an private charity event. Not a government program.
A true conservative would recognize the difference.
A real man steps up and protects those who are weaker than he is with out hesitation.
Once again that”Love Thy Neighbor” thing was not a suggestion, it also doesn’t say “love only thy American neighbor”, but I don’t guess any of that matters to you.

Good question, Glenn. I think it’s because he’s talking our language at the moment.

Why would conservatives care what Glenn Beck thinks?

My brother was ASA during the Vietnam era. He told me very little about “insights” he gleaned, but the nuggets he did share were dead on. I thought he was a bit “out there” at the time, but he told the truth as history has shown. I have much respect for those that served and could not share their knowledge. He has passed on and I wish he were here to interpret events from his perspective now.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion. The truth of the matter is - we don’t have a clue who will or will not be a disaster. Many we have elected who we thought would be there for us, have let us down. So,I would say they are disasters. It’s a crap shoot really. But,having said that - even though we don’t have a political record to hang around Trump’s neck - meaning having held public office - he is and has been a successful businessman. Sure, he has had set backs, as all businesses do, but, he seems to always land on is feet. I would call the people we have already elected - disasters - with the exception of a few good ones.

Glenn Beck really can’t call other people fake conservatives. This is the same guy who uttered the words “I stand with GLAAD”

I agree with you. His mother was mentally ill and ended up committing suicide when Glenn was a teenager, so there is a family history there. He definitely has serious issues.

I’ve never seen anything like obama either. Too bad the repukelicans didn’t spend as much time and effort to stop him as they are Donald Trump.

Nothing rambling, incoherent there. Please specify where on the video. Thanks.

The entire "speech" from start to finish. Did he stay on any subject for more than 20 seconds? Did he propose anything substantive, other than a 35% tariff on cars imported from Mexico?

It was about having fun with his co-hosts, making jokes and what you would hear from adolescent kids

Glenn's morning radio show is where conservatives/libertarian let their hair down. To me, it's the conservative/libertarian version of "Red Eye," although usually more substance is thrown in in the 3 hour long program.

His radio show is just part of what he does. He has his own network, "The Blaze," and does his serious 1-hour show every night, which is like his old program on Fox.

On top of that, he's running a conservative/libertarian media-industrial complex, among other things. So he probably doesn't have a lot of time for show prep.

I credit Glenn for honestly seeking for the truth. He calls things as he sees them. And he's calling out Trump for being an empty suit. I'm with him on that.

Regardless, his radio program is funny, which is something lacking from most conservative radio. I listen to Mark and Glenn for their insights and their ability to see "the big picture." I like the fact that Glenn throws in a lot of humor as well.

As for Trump, I'm glad that he brought up immigration and stands up to the media. I've defended him for that. But other than that, what else does he offer?

Trump has a Northeastern way of speaking using a conversational style. He’s a natural story teller. Even Mark Levin said he was an engaging communicator.

Mark was very charitable, but one man's engaging communicator is another man's drunk. It's possible to be an engaging drunk.

And Trump is running for president, not entertainer-in-chief.

When will he get serious?

“If you think Trump is the most Conservative you are badly out of touch.”

Name your candidate, and I can name off points against him just like you did Trump, I promise. Any one of them. This “Trump is not a conservative” is getting tedious. Which candidate says what he is saying about immigration (immigration alone will destroy us; if a candidate is 99.9% pure conservative and doesn’t stop that, we are destroyed), about the armed forces, about trade, about exalting the United States? And above all, which candidate speaks with his boldness and bluntness?

Progressive taxation? We have always had that; it occurred under Ronald Reagan; is that a deal killer for you?
